It was me :D

It was hard enough looking at my face on the TV, never mind that picture!

Horrible categories at the end

Two days before us it was Portuguese football and i would have been fine on that. But the jackpot was small and the trophies are great so I'm still very happy!

Watched with great interest as me and my friend, a fellow Claret and a former council tax officer, were on in October last year. The episode was recorded in October 2019. We made the head to head day 1 and round 2 on the second day when my knowledge of Madonna songs with 2 word titles let us down! Hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we did. I thought you were great and came across as the politest couple I have seen on the show :D The space I made for the trophy on my mantelpiece remains empty! UTC.

Thanks! It would have been nice to do two shows ill admit but i wouldn't trade it. I wish i didn't mention doing a gcse AFTER saying i did council tax though, what an idiot. I actually only did it to help my step daughter with her GCSE's but there you go, its history now  .

How were Osman and Armstrong? I get impression they're a couple of stand-up diamond blokes.

Only saw the head to head and final. Probably not what you want to hear but I had two of the pointless answers.

Well done on getting to the final though. Have you got a new front door yet?

:D As I worked for HMRC and my mate was a poll tax officer we got a bit of stick as you might imagine!! I found Richard Osman a lot friendlier than Armstrong. He might have been having a bad day. Embrace your win and dine out on it for years to come. :D

Hi Falcon - You know we didn't get much of a chance to meet with them, the runners ushered us into the studio to film and the two of them came round to each couple and said hello, asked where we were from and that was that, they did seem nice. I regret not asking Richard if the "celebs" on house of games get to keep those funny prizes!

Nice one FamilyCat, I bet it was a good question for some! Funnily enough we do now have a new front door!

Also it was filmed just over a year ago, when Covid only worried us like bird flu and was just a joke in the green room when someone sneezed. We know that everyone on the lead up to us being on, who said they were going away or getting married, probably hasn't!

Richard Osman always comes across as a genuinely friendly, personable guy.

Love both Pointless and House of Games.

Very similar to my experience on "The Chase" edlass.
Bradley Walsh was very nice, although the closest we got to the Chaser was the money chase board ... and on 15 to 1 Sandi Toksvig was brilliant although the chat was all to brief ...

Great fun though and like yourself, I only had the one show on 15 to 1, and not the possible 3 heats (but I have been on 15 to 1 twice, 1st time in 1998 with William G Stewart and then the 2018 show with Sandi Toksvig)

I won my heat in 2018 but I didn't make enough points to make it to the grand final. So I just got a trophy 👍🙂👍 made of course of the finest "Crystal" (crystal clear resin 🤭) ...

I got destroyed on The Chase by Mark LaBett though 🤣🤣🤣 but hey ho its great fun having a go.... Great memories 🙂

I’ve applied to loads of TV shows and never got on. Is there a specific “secret” to being selected?

I remember Geoff Heap from Padiham going on pointless a couple of years ago. He forgot his daughters name when they were introducing themselves haha.
He got an American politics question and gave this obscure answer that they were all impressed with but it was wrong.
He got a bit of stick in the pub for it.

Not that I know of! I am not sure why we were selected from our application because it was pretty standard, we have boring Jobs and basic interests but in the audition i just made sure I was very confident and happy to speak up etc. The whole thing took probably two years from initial application to us actually watching ourselves on the show!

Fully agree that making an impression at the audition helps, if you get that far. My mate nailed it at ours by telling the story of throwing Ian McKellen out of his front garden on Scott Park Road whilst the actor was searching for his childhood home! But as both you and Bosscat have said it is a great experience!

But you were offside.

Should have stuck to a rigid 4-4-2.
