Fans to return
The PM has announced he expects ALL social contact rules and limits to be removed by June. Paving the way for fans to return to capacity this summer.

reduced capacity on the last game of the season - my own perspective is that given it will cost clubs money to admit so few fans and there may be some significant games in terms of Europe and relegation the Premier League should say no thank youcricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 4:36 pmThe PM has announced he expects ALL social contact rules and limits to be removed by June. Re: Fans to return
10,000 or quarter of the capacity, whichever is smallest, from the 17th May
Our last home is currently scheduled 15th May so wouldn’t effect us, but personally think it’s daft to even consider it for just one game.
We’ll have waited 15mths, then would have to wait another 3mths for next season

Re: Fans to return
The last game is a perfect opportunity to test people before and after the games. Collect the data and to see if football matches are safe to resume with fans when the new season starts.
The Premier League nor clubs are in any position to refuse fans if the government gives the go ahead.

If you like.
But it’s better to do it when there’s only one game left than when they might be 2 games with a week in the new season and then a month down the line going “Oh, that was a bad idea, Lockdown again”.

I'm being realistic given the pandemic has been going on over 12 months. Your moronic and rude reply says a lot about you.
Optimism changes nothing. We were hopeful this time last year that things would be better for June and they weren't so I don't think I'm being hugely pessimistic.

The Euros and play-offs are the best option to conduct such tests
Re: Fans to return
More than likely yes. I think it would be absolutely wrong to stop people from going if they legally can do again. Results, positions, money doesn’t matter. Let’s get the ball rolling in getting back to normal.

Re: Fans to return
Unfair to let any fans in for the final games. Massive advantage to home teams. What if we need to get something from the SU game and their fans get to cheer them on. The fans played a massive role in the Orient win.
I'd get the threat to sue in now and put a stop to it

I’d sooner sheff Utd fans attend against us even if it works against us in that game this season. Bigger picture and all that.

If sheff Utd have 7,500 on and that gives us a safe and reasonable way of measuring how we can scale that up ahead of next season I’m all for it.
Even if that 7500 gives sheff Utd a boost (which having attended the turf with less than that on I very much doubt - often the opposite) then there’s a much bigger and more important point here.

Even the idea that Sheffield United can have 25% of fans in the stadium for 90 minutes out of 3,420 minutes would somehow be disadvantageous to our season is quite laughable.

people said similar when I suggested that the Europa League qualifiers would have a negative effect on our ability in the League. The advantage is a reality, just compare their form with and without fans, we just have to make sure it is of no consequence to us before then

Re: Fans to return
that is why the season has 38 games it is about where you are after 38 not 37 gamesDomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:48 pmIf we're not safe before then, then we don't deserve to stay up anyway
what about 1987 it took that last game which we were fortunate enough to have at home and the fans made a hell of a difference as has already been mentioned
Re: Fans to return
That’s a totally different thing. One has a direct influence on the players and their fitness, performances etc. One, whilst it can have an influence on the players performance, those players would have had 37 games prior to put points on the board.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:46 pmpeople said similar when I suggested that the Europa League qualifiers would have a negative effect on our ability in the League. Let’s also not forget Sheffield United would have more than likely been relegated 5 or 6 games before we play. I wouldn’t be expecting a carnival like atmosphere.

Agreed but look at where we are now and what we realistically need to survive. 2 wins max out of 13? As I say if we don't get that or the equivalent then we don't deserve to stay upChester Perry wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:51 pmthat is why the season has 38 games it is about where you are after 38 not 37 games

As I have continued with my dd I know I will have finished paying for my 2021/22 ticket by the end of next monthBordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:45 pmSounds positive. I wonder if we’ll see some season ticket news soon?
Sales to those whose seat rights are retained after they took the refund will need to be announce reasonably soon if they are to have a dd option attached to them with, more than likely, a fairly brief renewal timetable, and sales to new purchasers will probably be phased soon after that as there are only a limited number of 'vacant' seats available until those with retained seat rights have indicated their take-up or otherwise.

Luckily we have almost 40 points to play for before that game and we only need about 9.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:46 pmpeople said similar when I suggested that the Europa League qualifiers would have a negative effect on our ability in the League. Not that home advantage had much of a benefit to Man Utd in the last away game I attended. Or Southampton in the last game we played at in front of a crowd.
Or at the Emirates when we played in front of fans this season.

Re: Fans to return
At the moment off the dates announced football fans would legally be allowed in stadiums at reduced capacity. So yes, I am serious. Why shouldn’t they be allowed? Because we might get relegated? So what? We’d have had 37 games before that to get enough points on the board.summitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 6:07 pmYou can't be serious. Do you remember the atmosphere on the Turf for the last game of the 09/10 season? We were already down, but it was one of the best we have ever had.

This is the single best piece of news we've had in football for 12 months. I hope and pray with everything I've got that this happens.

Will that ever happen? The virus will be out there for ever. The current vaccines, at 85-91%, are almost twice as effective in preventing moderate infection than the influenza vaccines, 40-60%, are. As long as it is only causing mild or asymptomatic illness then society can live with it. Just like we do with Rhinovirus, influenza and various others.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 6:32 pmWouldn't it be better to get this damn virus, including mutations, completely under control first?
