We could finish above Arsenal this season
Ok let’s get it out of the way
This could be the maddest thread I’ve started or the most inspired .
I base my suggestion on two main beliefs ; the Premier League is over rated and we are a very difficult team to beat.
Why work out how many points we are above Fulham when it makes as much sense working out how many points we are behind teams that are considered weatherproof?
In this case I’ve chosen Arsenal because as well as being a team always considered to be a top 6 team they have been incredibly lucky against us. They are also a shell of the great Arsenal teams despite all the millions they’ve spent.

I agree. 6 points behind them with still to play at home. They could still go down too

Dare to dream. Whatever happened to those times when the idea of being in the PL was something exciting?
Did we all grow up and accept the realities of life or maybe some of us continue daring to dream.
You will likely be even more shocked when I say I still dream of going to Wembley and seeing us in an FA Cup final before it’s too late for me

We just need to finish above the bottom three this season, and two of them look to be sorted already

Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
If we finish above Arsenal we could also finish above Villa and Spurs in 8th. position in the table.
I predicted 55 points which would give us 10th. position approx. but with the two recent home draws I am currently 4 points below my target.

Great , so let’s start by getting a result at Spurs and getting you towards that target and me towards my fantasy

There drop off over the years has been incredible.
I watched the city Arsenal game the other day, there starting eleven that day was absolutely shocking. Bar Aubameyang/Saka
How many of them would get in any other top ten team let alone top 4.

Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
On second thoughts , I think relegation would be a much more palatable experience
Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
I'd be happier with finishing above Spurs because of a Spurs mate of mine always rubbishing us. That'd be the icing on the cake. Unlikely but boy what a ribbing he'd get off me!

We'd have finished above them last season if we'd turned up against Brighton on the last day

Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
Still a slight chance of finishing above Arsenal. I predicted 55 points at the halfway stage dropped 4 points with the home draws v Fulham and WBA but gained a point today. My predictions are now in line for 52 points.

Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
I doubt we'll finish above Arsenal, but it's satisfying to take 4 points off them this term. And having seen them today I can see why they're very much mid-table, they really weren't any great shakes especially considering the supposed worth of their squad.
Re: We could finish above Arsenal this season
I was surprised and relieved that Arsenal backed off somewhat today when they were on top.
Still glad they did which allowed Burnley to get back into it.
