Bates Motel
The first two episodes of this were shown on BBC one on Tuesday night. I thought it was surprisingly good.
All episodes are being shown on iplayer, so I watched another two last night. I know this show has been around for a while, so for anyone whose seen it, is it worth continuing with, or like a lot of shows, does it go on too long and get silly? i.e. Dexter!

Re: Bates Motel
Doesn't get silly, as such, but it's not exactly a great final season like Breaking Bad. It's worth the watch just for something to watch, I guess. I would give it a 6/10 overall. Good first couple of seasons that sort of goes on a bit of a tangent and then a weird ending.
Re: Bates Motel
Took this a couple of years back. Never seen the show mind.

Re: Bates Motel
Well worth watching. It was my go to series to watch when I was on a flight. Fell madly in lust with Vera Farmiga.

Thought it started really well but ran out of steam in the last two series
Re: Bates Motel
Was interested to read the other day that the woman who played Emma in this show is from Oldham. She went to the same school as my eldest brother did. Royton Crompton Secondary School.

Re: Bates Motel
I didn’t know that either... then again, I only found out the other day that Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates) is actually English!
I binged watched this on iplayer a few weeks back, and I agree with the above comments about the somewhat weird ending and how easy it is to fall in lust with Vera Farmiga!
Re: Bates Motel
Yeah I knew Highmore was a Brit. He was Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Funny how many Brits are employed to do American shows and play American roles.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 3:58 pmI didn’t know that either... then again, I only found out the other day that Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates) is actually English!

Brits tend to be cheaper than American actors, also though they are much better in general better trained and educated so they bring a bit more prestige to the roles they are playing.

Re: Bates Motel
Slightly off topic but I was surprised to learn that the excellent Schitts Creek is also a Canadian series.

British baddies have always been a favourite with American audiences. Knocking a snoop at the society they left behind, bringing us down a peg or two, easily recognisable accent and no race issues...
... also of course, Hitchcock himself was a Brit... and hated the American ‘method’ acting

I've only ever seen him in "The Good Doctor" which I think is great. You mean to tell me he is not really autistic????
