Re: The Derby Way
Their wage bill is crippling them.
Relegation would cause a massive amount of damage financially, especially if they don't have relegation clauses in their player contracts.

Re: The Derby Way
Derby won't go down this season, but the writing's on the wall, and they are on course to be the next Sunderland at this rate.
Rooney has done ok in his short stint, but I'd fear for them next season, and surely they'll have to trim that wage bill in the summer.

Re: The Derby Way
I think Rooneys done ok but nothing more. It’s not like the squad he inherited is poor for the championship. I think they actually have 3-4 really decent players.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 9:54 pmDerby won't go down this season, but the writing's on the wall, and they are on course to be the next Sunderland at this rate.

They have just suffered with years of mismanagement and chancing there arm at promotion.

They were well adrift when he took over. He’s done really well.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 10:21 pmI think Rooneys done ok but nothing more. It’s not like the squad he inherited is poor for the championship. I think they actually have 3-4 really decent players.

His win percentage is way better than what dyches was at Watford in his first managerial job at that level and Dyche was regarded as having done a good job there.
It’s also much higher than dyches is here. Granted much of that has been at premier league level.

And to think that they believed they were our equal, if not better, when we were last in the Championship

Re: The Derby Way
Ah I still remember a Derby fan coming on clarets mad when they signed Grant. He said they had a top class goalkeeping coach who would improve him. Can't remember if it was oldtimerram or someone else.
I wonder what he thinks of our goalkeepers since. Or even our goalkeeping coach and ex u23 goalkeeping coach
The way Jason Shackell and Richard Keogh played in that game has to be one of the funniest things to ever happen in football. Definitely one for the Danny Baker vhs.

Bottom of the league taking over from Philip Cocu, since taking over 2nd best defence in the league only Swansea have conceded less and a win tonight takes them 9 points from play offs. They would also go above Rovers who some were getting worried about recently for some reason after winning a couple of games. Fair to say in his first job he is doing a good job.
