Most prolific Squads
It stated on Sky yesterday, when Dias scored for Citeh, that he was their 19th scorer this season.
I wondered if anyone knows which Burnley teams had the most scorers.
From memory the early 70's team had goals from all over the pitch, not necessarily in the same season.
I think we need to take into account that due to size of squads today, compared to historically, that teams of yore could never compete with today.

Back in the 70’s, you’d be lucky if clubs used 19 players all season. I think we only used 16 in the promotion season.

Re: Most prolific Squads
91/92 would've had a few different scorers.
Conroy and Eli were the top two but off the top of my head Davis, Pender, Deary, Farrell, Francis, Harper, Lancashire all chipped in. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few more (Measham, Randall?)

The 80s team with Laws and Wharton banging them in from FB had goals right through the ranks. When I get up I’ll have a look in Chronicles.
edit: on checking only 14.
Taylor, Dobson,Laws,Potts,Overson,Young,Wharton,Hamilton,Cassidy,
Steven,McGee,Scott,Phelan,Allen.

Yeah Randall, Painter - don’t think we can compare to 19 though - we scored a fair few in that play-off promotion under Mullen too.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 9:19 am91/92 would've had a few different scorers.

Re: Most prolific Squads
In our 2008-09 promotion season, the following players scored at least one league goal for us off the top of my head:
Paterson, Thompson, Rodriguez, Blake, Eagles, Elliott, Gudjonsson, McCann, McDonald, Mahon, Alexander, Kalvenes, Caldwell, Carlisle, Duff.
Not sure if I’ve missed anyone out there, I think only Stephen Jordan and Rhys Williams failed to score of those who played regularly.
Not bad.

I'm not sure if you're mixing up 2 seasons or 2 squadsdaveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 9:47 amI've got 19 in all competitions in 2010/11:

I think we only played 14 players. We were very lucky with injuries.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:48 amBack in the 70’s, you’d be lucky if clubs used 19 players all season. I think we only used 16 in the promotion season.

Re: Most prolific Squads
Yates scored at Doncaster I think. Painter came in late and scored a few. Sure Monnington did as well.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 9:19 am91/92 would've had a few different scorers.

Can’t think of anymore.
