I still think we have enough to stay up but my god we don't half need to pull some rabbits out of hats in the summer and my worry is Dyche is too loyal to just rebuild the team even if he had the money. Dyche has a very defined type of player he likes and when you combine this with our finances it is plain why our transfer activities are so difficult. It certainly wasn't all down to Garlick and those blaming Pace so early need to give their heads a wobble.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 3:23 pmThis.
I just hope we can somehow scramble a few more wins to keep our heads above water, and then reassess in the summer, but we don't half make life hard for ourselves, and SD isn't immune from criticism for the lack of incomings either, although ultimately the buck stops with Garlick and in January Pace.

Re: Do we need a change
it is a valid question to ask, but bear in mind whoever took over would still have to work with the existing squad, do you really think a new gaffer could do any better with the tools at our disposal, and it's worth remembering even though we're getting a drubbing today, we aren't in the relegation zone currently, and as long as that remains the case then SD will be given time, and after everything he's done in his 8 years here he deserves some slack.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 3:23 pmSimple question really but do we need a change of manager to freshen things up? Have we naturally come to the end of our shelf life under Dyche?
And it's easy saying we need a change at the top, the harder part is when it comes to naming viable alternatives, and this is a major consideration for the board to take into account when they're considering making a change, who could do a better job than the incumbent, and that's not an easy question to answer.
Re: Tottenham versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Not sure about Pope as England's no. 1.
No. 1/2 perhaps! Head and shoulders and hips above the rest!

Re: Tottenham versus MIGHTY CLARETS
We're getting what we deserve, thoroughly trounced by a much better team. I thought Pep Gladioli summed it up perfectly the other day when asked why City were doing so well. His answer was very simple, "We have lots of money and buy the best players!" Simples. We certainly don't have the cash or squad of Spurs and it shows. Nothing too difficult to understand really.

Losing Dyche brings a high probability of relegation and a rebuild job. That might be a useful trade off for some people however as watching Dyche's 'football' sometimes is spirit crushing,

Re: Do we need a change
Don’t think we will get a better manager than Dyche, given our budgets half the clubs in the championship are probably more attractive.
Dyche is ******* in the wind week in week out. How many of our squad can you genuinely say are premier league quality? 3-4? And the gap is just getting bigger. Most premier league teams have at least 2 players for every position.

Re: Do we need a change
If we only had 3 or 4 payers of Premier league quality we would have been relegated years ago
Re: Do we need a change
What we need a change of is first team players, we have stood still recruitment wise for the past 4 windows, and sadly at this level standing still means you go backwards.
We have an ageing squad, that has been drilled to play 1 way.
We dont change approach, style or formation for no one, regardless of any strengths or weaknesses they may have.

Good, our only real signing from the last 2 transfer windows about to enter the fray.
Should make a real difference.
Should make a real difference.
Re: Tottenham versus MIGHTY CLARETS
It's a shame we won't get the 1-0 defeat we came for, but we can't get the result we want every week. Only a few extra goals flew in though, and one less than how many flew in there last season.
Let's take the positives and look for the clarity, everyone. It's a head scratcher, of course, but on to the next one.

Re: Do we need a change
There are plenty of very good reasons to put forward why it would be madness to suggest replacing Dyche but supporters not being able to suggest an obvious replacement isn't one of them
I can't remember Dyche being on anybody's radar when Howe left but that didn't mean he wasn't out there and that the people paid to find Howe's replacement couldn't identify him and bring him to the club.

Re: Tottenham versus MIGHTY CLARETS
For 4 windows folk on here have been pleading for a wide right player. It is criminal that this position hasn’t been filled. Brownhill has been given the job because he was unlucky to lose his starting job to Jack Cork. He is not the man for out there.
We would be better off with Lowton in front of Bardsley, at least we would be defensively strong down that side and he would stay wide.

Not surprised Mourinho is smiling, won't have an easier game this season.
You can bet his opposition analysts have had even bigger smiles all week though. No work required this week, the scouting of the tactics and personnel was all done 4 years ago. Just a case of printing it off again and handing it in.
