Good time to play Leicester ?

Post by FCBurnley » Sun Feb 28, 2021 7:00 pm

Leicester on a bad run right now and having similar injury problems to us Maddison out and sadly sounds like a bad injury for Harvey Barnes today.
However they have a strong squad and it will be tough but it is a game we can win. UTC

It was a good time to play West Brom last week too wasn’t it?

They completely ran out of steam last season as well. Would be a good time to dig out one of our battling 1 nil wins!

Might be a good time for Leicester, whose away form has been good, to play us. But let us hope we can pick ourselves up and win. Pity we dont have a reliably fit right winger. This, like other positions, ought to have been addressed but wasn't.

We need to really tear into them to unsettle them from the kick off.... have we got it in us? Yes definitely, but our form and injury crisis at the moment to really damage our confidence, so being honest I cannot see anything more than trying to sneak points from the next two. We are struggling at the moment, we need to regroup quickly.

Given Leicester's injuries its a game we should be winning however I dont think it will be as easy as most of us think. I am still confident we will triumph by the odd goal and collect all 3 pts as expected.

Possibly! they generally fare better away from the KP though, but if we could rack up a win, then the pressure intensifies for Fulham the following day, as the gap would then be 8 points with fixtures slowly draining away, my worry is we've looked out of sorts for several weeks now, and I genuinely thought the week's break prior to the Spurs game would have reignited our mojo, but clearly that wasn't the case.

If you believe in omens however it's worth recalling it was the Leicester home game that got us going last season, so let's hope lightning strikes twice.

that strong jaw we have needs to be front and center from now on, the displays since Palace have been pretty average to say the least

It wasn't a good time to play Fulham, West Brom or Spurs if you understood football at all.
This is a good time to play Leicester, but it guarantees nothing. Unless we are at the top of our game we'll get little.
We showed today that we are OK. We can defend a lot better, and with Wood back, carry more of a threat. Chris likes playing Leicester.

If anyone had seen Spurs recent fixtures would have noted that they've lost to Liverpool, Chelsea, Man city, Brighton and West ham.

Beating West Brom.

Brighton aside, hardly easy games.

Hopefully Wood will start but not sure who we can play in right midfield. Brownhill just doesn’t fit there. Assuming Brady and JGB missing out again then Josh is our only option unless like me you think Lowton might do a job with Bards at rb. Pretty sure Sean won’t take that risk but it’s not working playing Brownhill. I guess JRod could play there but he just doesn’t look 100% to me
We could of course bring in 6 loan players as Fulham did !!

Worse than average Vegas. On a scale of 1 to 10 average is 5 id say but I think our performances since have been a 3 maybe 4

It’s never a good time to play Leicester. They are a good team built on pace, and often devastating on the counter.

We have no one to come off the bench that can change a game, all we have are like for likes, or shore uppers.

It's never a good time to play Leicester because they have a far better team and squad than we do. (Just like Spurs!)

.. If you're Morecambe and then less stir.

Seriously though, I think yes because of players out and they screwed up Europa League to lose against Arsenal.

We beat them last year at a similar time and in a similar predicament.

We did and that result sparked our season, so why can't we beat them again, yes they're a good outfit, but they're not supermen are they, let's have some confidence for a change.

Leicester have the joint best away record in the Division alongside Manchester City. They are currently fourth in the form table ( over eight games )

Jonny Evans went off injured as well, their injury list is longer than ours.

Evans
Morgan
Fofana
Justin
Maddison
Barnes
Perez
Praet

It's a free hit type of game

We can play with flair, imagination, pace, free flowing and passing style

Sorry nurse, didn't catch what you said

No, I've not yet taken my medication for today ;)

I do think there is some logic here. We won against Liverpool, when they were on poor run of form.
Yet we also had a stronger team. I’d be content with a point?

Leicester will definitely miss Barnes. If JBG is still injured I’d play McNeil as an inverted winger on the right and Pieters left midfield.

We have an opportunity against Leicester to get something, without Barnes and Maddison they will be far less of a threat.

Evans would also be a big miss for them, it will be a really tough game but we have more of a chance than if we played them 2 weeks ago without doubt.

They still have Vardy. We struggle with his pace even when our team is playing well, hope that we can cope with him.

Great chance for Tarks to show his true worth to Leicester

A win win for us - he has a blinder, we win the game and his summer transfer fee goes up

He has a mare, we lose the game but he signs another deal cos nobody else wants him ;)
