Re: Nuno Tavares
If we signed someone with a name like this I think I'd have to read the article a few times just for it to sink in.

Re: Nuno Tavares
As much as I like Taylor I nearly spat my brew out at that claim. Taylor is excellent but needs to work on his crossing before he's considered in the same bracket as several others.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 7:59 amAny good and he is on his way to join his countrymen at Wolves also weve got Charlie Taylor best left back in the Premier league
Re: Nuno Tavares
If Taylor were the best left back in the league he wouldn't be playing for us.
Re: Nuno Tavares
I think that depends on which agent the Portuguese players have.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 7:59 amAny good and he is on his way to join his countrymen at Wolves also weve got Charlie Taylor best left back in the Premier league

Re: Nuno Tavares
In addition to the two English clubs, Napoli has also shown interest in being able to negotiate with the Eagles the pass of the young side, now more secondary in Jorge Jesus' options
Despite less use in minutes this season at Benfica, where he has been more in the shadow of Grimaldo, Nuno Tavares remains referenced by several clubs in Europe. According to THE GAME, there have been several polls by the young left-back and, among the most solid in recent weeks, are those of Newcastle and Burnley, of the Premier League, and Naples, of the first Italian echelon.
Newcastle's interest is the most intense at the moment, with the English club, which we found out, already leaving the promise to soon put an offer for Nuno Tavares on the table. In fact, this is not the first time that magpies probe eagles for the defender, either through members of their scouting department or via football officials. In the not too distant past, a season and a half ago, they will even have shown willingness to pay a total of 15 million euros for the athlete. The fact of having missed the presence in the Champions League puts Benfica in a phase of greater selling availability, a situation that can be aggravated if this season the team does not guarantee its presence in next year's millionaire league.
This need, combined with Nuno Tavares' shorter preponderance with Jorge Jesus (20 games, only 11 as a starter), can facilitate an agreement, either for the referred Premier League clubs, or with Naples who have also been following him for some time. Everything is in a contact phase but concrete offers are expected in Luz soon.

I think there is some debate to be had as to whether Charlie Taylor is even the best left back in our squad.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 7:59 amAny good and he is on his way to join his countrymen at Wolves also weve got Charlie Taylor best left back in the Premier league

Re: Nuno Tavares
Look at goals and assists and I really don’t think they are too far apart.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 12:19 pmWho else is there to compare to? Not Pieters surely?
For me Taylor does not do enough going forward. He has one standard move, get his head down and run to the byline. I sometimes wish he’d cross from deeper rather than trying to beat his man all the time, I think Wood in particular would get so many more goals this way, as defenders wouldn’t be as set as they are when he goes to the byline.

Re: Nuno Tavares
I must admit I think it’s closer now than it was last season. Pieters has been excellent this season. Taylor has been lacking for me.
Happy if either of them start to be honest.

Fantastic player on FM21 regularly wins European golden boy
Re: Nuno Tavares
If you look at goals and assists, I think Jimmy Dunne would be better than James Tarkowski. (Especially with the sitters Tarkowski has missed recently.) But as they are defenders, first and foremost I would look at defending, and I think Taylor gets it comfortably.DanH90 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 12:46 pmLook at goals and assists and I really don’t think they are too far apart.

Re: Nuno Tavares
But the job of a centre half is not to provide goals and assists, whether you like it or not the job of a modern day full back is to provide that, particularly assists. I think Taylor is a good player but I think the attacking side of his game is lacking.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 10:24 amIf you look at goals and assists, I think Jimmy Dunne would be better than James Tarkowski.
