Good news regarding Wood, if he's deemed fit enough, I'd seriously consider starting him on Wednesday, yes he's got his faults, but he's our most likely source of a goal, and if we want to pick wins up, then it's goals we'll need more than anything.

He was being written off as useless by plenty on here very recently.
It's strange how some players become better players when they're not playing.

Re: Same again expected for Leicester
As I said he has his faults, but despite missing a fair number of games he's still our leading scorer, and let's be honest Palace apart we've hardly been banging them in have we, so we really can't afford not to give Wood a go from the off in my view anyway, we need wins to create some much needed daylight between ourselves and Fulham, and Wood is one of our more likely scorers, so for me it's a no brainer, dependent on his fitness obviously, we don't want him to break down again, as he'll be needed in the rest of the campaign if we're going to survive.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:11 pmHe was being written off as useless by plenty on here very recently.

Oh, I agree. We have to change something after recent results and performances. I still believe Wood to be our best striker, but my point was that there is now a clamour for him to start again after being slagged off for weeks (not you btw).tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:20 pmAs I said he has his faults, but despite missing a fair number of games he's still our leading scorer, and let's be honest Palace apart we've hardly been banging them in have we, so we really can't afford not to give Wood a go from the off in my view anyway, we need wins to create some much needed daylight between ourselves and Fulham, and Wood is one of our more likely scorers, so for me it's a no brainer, dependent on his fitness obviously, we don't want him to break down again, as he'll be needed in the rest of the campaign if we're going to survive.

Richardson and Mubungo were scoring today surely worth some time together v Leicester

Re: Same again expected for Leicester
None of our forwards have played to their potential this season, and no matter what combo's we've tried none have impressed on a consistent basis, now some of those failings could also be laid at the feet of our midfield, and as a team we haven't created enough chances the whole season, therefore any chances our strikers do miss will be highlighted even more than normal, whether Wood is our best striker is up for debate, but he's definitely our best goalscorer. plus he also gives us an aerial presence in both boxes which we've been sadly lacking recently.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:24 pmOh, I agree. ‘We’ve hardly been banging them in’ is an understatement this season! I’d start Wood with Vydra.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:20 pmAs I said he has his faults, but despite missing a fair number of games he's still our leading scorer, and let's be honest Palace apart we've hardly been banging them in have we, so we really can't afford not to give Wood a go from the off in my view anyway, we need wins to create some much needed daylight between ourselves and Fulham, and Wood is one of our more likely scorers, so for me it's a no brainer, dependent on his fitness obviously, we don't want him to break down again, as he'll be needed in the rest of the campaign if we're going to survive.

Re: Same again expected for Leicester
Well! if Jay's injured as rumoured then we may not have any other option but to play Vydra/Wood as a pairing, Richardson should be on the bench though, he's at least earnt that privilege, and he might just be the spark we need, but whoever plays up top we'll need to show an awful lot more in all areas and attitude to get a result against Leicester, than we've demonstrated in our last 2 games, usually Sean gets a reaction after a heavy defeat, so let's hope that's true this time also.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 9:59 pm‘We’ve hardly been banging them in’ is an understatement this season! Re: Same again expected for Leicester
I am reliably informed by someone who has worked it all out, that of all the striking combos we’ve played this season, Wood and Jay Rod is comfortably our most successful pairing, minutes per goals wise.
Be good if they could start this one. I’d like to see 4–3-3 with Dwight and Jay Rod flanking Wood, bring the best out of the midfield 3.

Re: Same again expected for Leicester
I've got more chance of signing for Real Madrid than we have of playing 4-3-3, it'll be the standard 4-4-2 no doubt, I do agree though we do need to find a way of getting Dwight on the ball more, yes his form isn't great, but he's still our most likely creative force, and don't Leicester have a makeshift defence, so we have to ensure it's really tested on the night.Cubanclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:26 pmI am reliably informed by someone who has worked it all out, that of all the striking combos we’ve played this season, Wood and Jay Rod is comfortably our most successful pairing, minutes per goals wise.
