Kevin McDonald'
Big story on Sky Sports News, that Kevin is suffering kidney failure. One kidney doesn't work, the other down to 10%, so his game is on hold whilst he waits for a transplant.
First came to light when getting his medical at Burnley.
It something he's coped with throughout his career, but now got to the stage where he needs the surgery.
He doesn't know of he will make a comeback, but knows that isn't the most important thing right now.
Good luck to the lad, I'm sure our thoughts are with him

When you see how fit and athletic footballers are it always comes as a surprise when they are diagnosed with an illness at an early age. Then you see someone who smokes and drinks heavily go on for ever. We have no idea what's happening in our bodies

Best wishes, Kev. We lost a player when he fell out with Laws.

Re: Kevin McDonald'
I guess its as they are so fine-tuned, so to speak any issue is more pronounced. Very sad to see and hope he gets what he needs to come through itwarksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:27 amWhen you see how fit and athletic footballers are it always comes as a surprise when they are diagnosed with an illness at an early age. Hope you get a swift recovery, always admired his style of football.
Re: Kevin McDonald'
I don’t know how long he’s been waiting for a transplant but it’s not unusual for people to have to wait a good few years for a viable kidney to come up. At 32 it’s unlikely he will play again which is a real shame. He was a massive talent when he broke into our team

He was one of those players for us who got you on the edge of your seat with the potential to do something special. Best wishes to him for a good resolution to his health issues. Tremendous respect for his brother and his best friend who are both potential kidney donors, what an amazing thing to do for someone.
Re: Kevin McDonald'
Interview here. I along with many others had no idea he was suffering with this. He speaks so well during this interview, and I wish him all the best. He mentions that a friend or his brother will be likely donors and that they have put it off for as long as they can.

Re: Kevin McDonald'
On his day he was a really exiting player to watch, with flair and lots of skill. Sadly a youngster who perhaps did not get the best support from the club. Things had seemed on the downward path long before the pub incident and while not a Laws basher, I thought he could have perhaps done more to get his mind back together before shipping him out.

Re: Kevin McDonald'
That is really sad news but best to get the operation done asap whilst he is still young and fitter than most .
Hope the operation is a success and he is back into football soon in whatever role.
Always thought Kevin never realised his full potential while a Claret.

Re: Kevin McDonald'
Man City away , the equaliser in the 3.3. draw.
As said above lots of skill and exciting to watch. Who knows what a manager like Dyche could have done for his discipline and confidence.

A huge talent.
Get sorted and get well Kevin McD.
A credit to Fulham too, who gave him a contract extension, even though his days in their first team were gone.

I really feel for him, having recently listened to Andy Cole's book on Audible. It's a huge operation and then you're likely to be on medication for life to stop your body rejecting the new kidney. Best of luck, big Kev.
