Tony Mowbray ... nearing the exit ?

Post by Clarets4me » Wed Mar 03, 2021 10:36 pm

Astonishingly, despite Rovers' many Managerial changes during the Venkys era, Tony Mowbray is now the 11th longest serving manager in the 92 League Clubs ....

However, our friends down the M65 have only picked up 1 point out of the last 21, and the BRFCS posters seem far from happy ! Could the end be nigh ?

Could be but apparently he's contracted until 2022, so if they want to get rid of him Venky's will need to put their hands in their pockets.

If you believe the Rovers fans Eddie Howe is their top choice to replace Mowbray, it would be hilarious if another ex-BFC manager went to them and did as good a job as Coyle.

Nooooooooooooooooh.............................agent Mowbray has so much more to achieve.
Photoshop him at a horse race meeting in tight pants with a bulge in the ahem inside forward region and the Shadsworth massive will lay off and instead chant he's one of our own.

There's still enough time for him to achieve greatness in the eyes of all Clarets...an extension to his contract could be useful though.

They were getting excited when they were hovering just below the play offs and Dack was back in January. Reading comments of ‘best squad in league’ and ‘automatic promotion is on’ was amusing. Suddenly a few weeks on they 15 points from the play offs and 8 points off the drop!

He was very subdued in his post-match interview on Tuesday night. Obviously down because they lost, but he was speaking in terms like "...well if it's not me taking the team forward, I hope whoever comes in gives these players a chance..."
Sounded to me like there might be some dissatisfaction among the owners.

I watched them against Reading the other night and they played some really good stuff, some of their passing and moving is the best I’ve seen in that league this season, but they couldn’t put the ball in the net. The 17 year old kid they’ve got on loan cost them a goal and then that was that. By all accounts he’s done well for them in other games though.

It does sound like Mowbray is on his way though. They ought to be incredibly cautious on that because he’s been brilliant for them considering who he’s working under.

Their annual internet switch off happens in March. They come on Facebook every August time giving it the big un how we are going down and they are going up and every March when it looks like another season of mediocrity and we look like we are going to avoid relegation they go quiet or mention 1995. It's highly amusing.

I hope they can him, he’s a good Championship manager and has been very unlucky with injuries. Chicken-brained if they do.
Why should I care!

Their last four Managers have all been represented by the same agent, apparently, and that agent also looks after Tony Pulis .... Several BRFCS posters are putting 2+2 together .....

Strange how time flies. 26 years ago now. It's as far in the past now as our title win was when I started going to the Turf in '86, and to be honest that seemed like ancient history to me as a kid.

I'd prefer Mowbray stayed.

He's not that great is he? He's got one of the best 5 squads in the league 7 points above the relegation places.

Really?
Armstrong is the only one with any value. Elliott in on loan. Not much else.

Can't quite make up my mind about Mowbray, is he doing a good job with what he has got, or is he underachieving? Certainly he does not seem to be able to build any consistency into their results or performances so on balance, probably best for us that he stays where he is, as they might find somebody better to replace him.

Very good player in his day. Saw him completely bottle up Shearer at Portman Road one afternoon in the days of yore by forcing him on to his left peg.

I was bored so did their record this season. It’s fairly obvious they bully the bottom end.
Middle of lower half team at best.

The Venkys won't replace Mowbray. This season is over for Rovers. Why ***** more money in by paying off a failing manager. It'd be like flogging a dead horse :o

We've done better against the top 6 this season.

*checks that Liverpool are still top 6*

I think it's best he leaves just because you know they'd find it hard to find someone better. Bring back Steve Kean.

I wouldn't describe him as a failing manager. Blackburn are in a bad run. Persevere with him, and he'll pull them around. Unfortunately.

And I'd like to know how many of those green W's came when they got a penalty and/or an opposition had player sent off.

I'm sure the last count was 7 penalties received, and 4 red cards to the opposition...

We would be top half of the premier league with that sort of generosity

A lot of the botherers seem to think he is fire proof as the CEO Waggot ? is Mowbray's mate and Mowbray appointed or
recommended him to the Venky's ...

Mowbray is a decent manager, despite the club he manages at the moment 😜

Mowbray's a good manager. If they get shut they'll struggle to find a replacement anywhere near as good. It's pot luck.
