Re: Bad Beat Bob
There are goals in that video that I genuinely think deserve the description "world class". That view of goal number 6 from behind the goal is just absolutely sensational.
What a player !!! 45 today...Happy Birthday Robbie Blake.

I've been watching Burnley since the 50s and Robbie Blake is up there with my all time favorites.

Loved Robbie Blake.
One thing I did notice watching all those though, thank god we got rid of the goal music...

I was sat in the JML, right in line with it. As soon as hit it, knew it was in

I'd forgotten about that slalom through the Wolves defence, brilliant goal.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
After watching those I think that showreel would be up with the best. Everyone knew he had it in his locker and I must admit I took him a bit for granted. Not many players for us before or since could take a free kick like that.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
Thanks for sharing - he was a real player for us.
What a difference a peak Robbie Blake would make to us now, could find a goal out of nothing, take players on and not afraid to take a shot from distance.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
Great player Robbie Blake one of my favourites, goal number 6 should be a lot higher up, the definition of un-saveable.

Brilliant. Such quick feet, and great free kicks too.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
One of his absolute best, the free kick in the cup against Gillingham, doesn’t seem to feature. Very similar to his goal against Spurs.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
If he did he'd have to change his attitude. Was one of those who was a disruption to the dressing room and had clear fitness and addiction issues.
But I guess you can argue that Dyche would certainly manage him better than Laws.
Re: Bad Beat Bob
I got the impression that Coyle tried to get Blake to defend more and deeper in the Premier League but it didn't really work as he wasn't very good at it. He wanted him in the team for his goals and attacking threat but we didn't have enough possession to justify that.
I think Dyche would find the same. In a team with lots of possession it might work - Aston Villa, Leeds or Brighton say.

Re: Bad Beat Bob
Watching all those great free kicks reminded me of when Robbie played for Bolton (under Coyle I think) in a night game against us at The Turf.
Bolton won a free kick in a dangerous position just outside our penalty area, we all feared the worse as 'the little magician' stepped up to take it but he ended up blasting it way over the crossbar into about row M of the cricket field stand.
The Burnley fans immediately started singing "you're not Robbie Blake, you're not Robbie Blake..."
(I'd like to think he did it on purpose but I'm sure he's too professional for that )
