Liverpool-Chelsea
1-0 Chelsea at HT, surely Liverpool won't lose at Anfield again will they
Great finish by Mount though, and he must be a shoe-in for the next England selection on this form.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
I hate Liverpool and Carragher is the worst commentator on the planet.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
The best thing about Liverpool is that the day fans return is probably the day they end the season having surrendered the title.

I think it's safe to say they surrendered the title long before then.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:25 pmThe best thing about Liverpool is that the day fans return is probably the day they end the season having surrendered the title.
The bigger fear for the Scousers is they miss out on the top 4, and at this rate that's becoming more likely by the game.
Over an hour played and they haven't yet managed an effort on target, so much for their vaunted front 3.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
The most annoying thing about Mane's game.
Push the ball past the defender, run into said defender, and fall over.
He's had numerous free kicks against us with that one.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
I listened to a podcast with Gary Neville a few years ago who said the reason fergie was so brutal with getting shut of players was because once they had won a title or champions league they had already achieved more than they ever aimed to and no longer had anywhere near enough desire for a relentless Man Utd side.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:39 pmI think it's safe to say they surrendered the title long before then.

It’s true as well. How many teams have defended premier league titles? Not many.

What is the lowest place a team has finished after winning the league?

I’m glad a light hearted joke has offended you. Be careful you don’t melt now that the weather is warming up.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Off the top of my head Leicester in the PL era, they came 12th the season after claiming the title, however there may well be cases in the distant past of teams performing worse when defending the title.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:48 pmWhat is the lowest place a team has finished after winning the league?

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Rovers were the worse. But I think United beat that one year and Leicester more recently.
Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Think there’s been quite a few recently who finished below where Liverpool probably will.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:48 pmWhat is the lowest place a team has finished after winning the league?

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Wow! hold the front page Liverpool managed a shot on target.
5 defeats on the spin at Anfield now, this is getting silly.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Ipswich Town won in ‘62, 17th in ‘63(still under Alf Ramsey), relegated in ‘64 conceding 121goals. Takes some beating.

Man City were once relegated the season after winning the league.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:48 pmWhat is the lowest place a team has finished after winning the league?

What about Leeds the season after they won the title under Wilkinson - can't remember exactly where they finished but they were hovering around the relegation zone as I recall

Well said, Steve, we sink or swim on our own merits.
I'm sick of this "as long as there's 3 teams worse than us" mentality.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Klopps post match interviews are getting worse.
He looks like a lost sheep.
He can never understand how they lose.
It's little wonder the players aren't performing for him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn't there next season.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
Klopp has lost the room. Just like he did at Dortmund. He’s also either too stubborn to alter his tactics or pure hubris. It’s almost 100% parallel to his time there. Cyclical.

A grim looking form table for Liverpool..

Liverpool and Celtic blowing up in the same season is beautiful
Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
I couldn't for the life of me understand why Klopp took Salah off, he's the one player that could get them a goal when things are looking tight.

Re: Liverpool-Chelsea
I think its because he's also the one player who wont pass to someone in a better position to score.
Mane's hissy fit at the Turf a few years back, as Salah didnt pass to him, could have been the start of the rot.
