Being a golfer myself, albeit a poor golfer, I had great interest in today's tournament at 'Arnies Place'. I was stuck between whom I wanted to win. Corey Connors was in the final group, he's born and bred about 30 km north of where I live and learned his trade at a course I play often. In my 'heart of hearts' though, I was rooting for Westwood. The man is bulletproof, he's been at the top, at the very bottom and everywhere in between. His career has seen a resurgence since he's been with his lady/caddy, good to see :) Unfortunately nether could get the job done :( I'm on the fence about Bryson DeShambles. Sure, his power is impressive, but when he gets offline, he's REALLY offline.

Just watched this finish now and wow what a great contest over those last few holes. Westwood was fantastic especially on th3 last when he was in that divot. Just didn’t seem phased. DeChambeau on the other hand, Say what you want about him but the guy has big balls and his all round game is up there with the best of them.

I had the pleasure of watching BDC drive across the lake on number 6 on both Saturday and Sunday. The atmosphere was electric and he literally just went from villain to hero. His drive yesterday was 379 yards and was on a perfect line. Westwood had the dubious honor of having to play after BDC and as tee shot cleared the water albeit over 100 yards shorter than his playing partner he raised his arms in triumph. The cheered him every bit as much as they did BDC. So congrats to both players. A well deserved winner and a great runner up aged 47.

Westwood got a great chance of making the Ryder cup team automatically, rather than having to rely on a captains pick.

Lee Westwood having another good week so far at the Players. Matthew Fitzpatrick up there as well so the chance of an English winner for the first time ever. Good to see a course where everyone can challenge, not just the big bombers.

Anyone else watching the golf? Crazy 10 minutes, just seen about 3 of the worst shots i've ever seen in professional golf. One of them Bryson topping a tee shot and barely making it past the ladies tee.

Golf, a game invented to give Scottish commentators the opportunity to whisper in a slightly exaggerated accent :D

I'm glued to the telly watching The Players Championship rooting for Westy to keep things together. Despite a few loose shots, his putting is saving him......so far. DeShambles seems to be confused as to what's gong on with his swing. For those chasing, pars could be very important today. Canadian Cory Connors is on a charge :D

Don't any of them know you're not supposed to put it in the water

Shows even the world's best are human I suppose. Paul Casey moving into the mix as well, but that leader board has some stellar names on it, I guess it'll come down to nerves and putting, as it often does in the final round.

Westy's clinging on to his lead :D It's so good to see him playing excellent golf the last couple of years, he looks so content out there.

This is where his experience should count in his favour, he's used to seeing tournaments out on the back 9, so this shouldn't phase him at all.

A birdie or two wouldn't go amiss for him right now though, it's getting tight up there.

Sure, he's well experienced at closing, however he's playing with 47 year old nerves against 20 something year old nerves. It makes a difference when things get tight, particularly with the flat stick.

Well! whether he wins or not he's performed admirably over the 4 days, and he'd still be a guy you'd want in your corner during a Ryder Cup.

DeChambeau is painful to watch.
So slow.
No style

True but at least he's not going to win this week thankfully.

Absolutely agree with you. I have the utmost respect for Westy, he's been at the top, the very bottom, back to the top and everywhere in between. I doubt there's a happier player on the course, he's in a very good place in his life. Having his lady as his caddy must be brilliant for him. A definite lock for a Ryder Cup spot.

Dropped shot for JT on the 14th, he missed from only 3 feet, just maybe this isn't over yet.

Westy with a birdie chance at 14 to tie for the lead.

If Bryson can get his putter going this next few weeks think he'll be the man to beat at Augusta.

Westy takes 2nd anyway, that's a good effort given the calibre of this field.
