Since Mowbray spoke those words, the gap has closed.

I always felt Messrs Lennon and McCartney could have enhanced their undoubted song writing ability by inserting the word 'arse' between 4000 and holes....ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 12:16 amI couldn't come up with any new lyrics for the song

Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
"We met them occasionally over the next forty-odd years but not in the top flight again until the 2009/10 season. I don’t particularly wish to dwell on the two games we played against them in that season but there has to be a mention of the second of them, a 1-0 home defeat when we were cheated out of a result because Martin Olsson took a dive and conned referee Mike Dean into awarding them a penalty from which David Dunn scored the only goal of the game."
Great article and people who know me will know how much I can not stand that odius Olsson however, didn't they have a goal not given that day that was clearly over the line?

At least when we played Rovers in the League cup in 2017 SD knew the significance of the game, and unlike our efforts in other cup matches we made sure we won the match.

At an absolute canter (something the horse botherers will be familiar with). I said at the time, i think this is the first time that i have watched a game against Rovers and not one of their players would have got into our team. And we played a weakened side against them.

Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
I loved that game that night. It was so easy, I doubt I'd ever seen us beat them so easily. We had a strong team out but we'd made eight changes from the league team a few days earlier.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 11:26 amAt an absolute canter (something the horse botherers will be familiar with). Someone has suggested the gap has closed since Mowbray's words. It didn't look that way when I watched them recently against Preston. But they are a division higher.

" In the previous two weeks we’d beaten potential promotion rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby, two games that I’d stressed again and again were far more important than the local derby. I thought I meant it but when that final whistle blew at Ewood I knew I was wrong."

4000 days plus an hour now, not looking like that record will change anytime soon either.Claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 9:06 amHere is a link for anyone wanting to do a count down

Would have been a lot longer other than for the diving cheat olsen, and then Lee Williamson! Wasn`t it right at the end of the game when was it Danny Ings would have gone through to almost certainly score a winner and he was rugby tackled by williamson?

Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
I've never seen that ticketcounter before - it just came into my head a few weeks ago when I was wondering what I could write this month about beating them so I worked it out myself. 11 years at 365 days plus 3 leap days is 4,018 so just needed to come forward 18 days.
Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
I can assure you that every Burnley fan, regardless of their mathematical prowess or lack of it, can instantly tell any enquirer, TO THE SECOND, how long it is since our evolution-challenged cousins from down the road managed to beat us.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 3:42 pmI've never seen that ticketcounter before - it just came into my head a few weeks ago when I was wondering what I could write this month about beating them so I worked it out myself. 11 years at 365 days plus 3 leap days is 4,018 so just needed to come forward 18 days.

I was not there
I was very ill (as per).
My lasting memory forever will be Sean Dyche marching defiantly onto to pitch and pointing repeatedly at those lucky enough to be there.
My face grinning until it hurt, and then some......

Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
Amazing that day I booked the Monday off work as win draw or lose I was on the beer. The scenes in the town centre pubs as the returning Clarets met up with those who watched it on the tele was amazing. I still recall Andy Payton leading the singing of No nay never in Spoons, such a celebration.

Brilliant. absolutely brilliant. Re: ARTICLE: 4,000 Days Since Blackburn Lancashire
Great article. Think how often we've gone out of the cup to lower league opposition after playing a weakened side. I was so relieved that we were so good on that night in 2017.

If the Beetles knew what reallly went on in that cess pit
Of depravity the line would have been 4000 foals in Blackburn Lancashire.

Totally different to other away games when he always comes over and applauds the Burnley fans. This time he pointed and then swept his pointed finger from left to right across the Darwen End to tell us it was for us.HunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:23 pmI was not there
