Burn the blue.
We have to stick with this yellow strip for away games. They can actually see each other for passes.

I personally like the Yellow and Claret combination - if I wasn’t such a traditionalist I’d want it as our home colours

We’ve had claret and blue for too long though - it’s the clubs identity, despite pinching it from Aston Villa

I always love to see Burnley play in yellow away from home. The stats for away league games this season make interesting reading:
Less black…more yellow please!

Re: Burn the blue.
Most loved strip for me? The old 70s Claret with blue V. Most hated? The thankfully short lived Claret and Blue quarters. Far to close to the bar stewards for me. Dreadful idea.

Billy Hamilton said the team he was in used to prefer the yellow kit especially for away night matches... so it is nothing new, and that was before he left for Oxford in the days of yor...

Re: Burn the blue.
Yellow is the brightest colour and easily seen. That is why it is used on car number plates.

It’s like 2002 Brazil turn up in yellow and 1980s Burnley turn up in Claret and Blue.

I love the black away shirt this season, I've been surprised at how little we've used it.
That yellow kit mind, though I wouldn't wear it to the pubs when they reopen, is definitely a good omen for us.

Re: Burn the blue.
With regards playing in yellow, back in the day, early to mid 80s, I developed a bit of a fear of the away teams at the Turf playing in that colour. I think we must have had a rotten record with teams taking the points after playing yellow (mind you I think we had a fairly rotten record against teams in any colour!)
I remember an ominous feeling when the gathered away fans chanted "Yellows! Yellows!"
Tranmere and Hartlepool (I think) spring immediately to mind.

We've become champions twice (at least) when wearing yellow:

Re: Burn the blue.
Our old white second strip in the 60's was great - only changed when there was a clash back then.
Re: Burn the blue.
I loved the Endsleigh 1997 white away strip. I still have mine (its a bit tight now though ) My most hated one was that green and black 3rd kit ... only worn once if memory serves ....

Re: Burn the blue.
The green and black was my favourite. We wore it loads though and never won.
Only time we won when that strip was worn was when Southend had to wear it at the turf.
We wore it on our first season in the kids league. And yes we were rubbish in it. Definitely a bad omen.
Re: Burn the blue.
I couldn't remember who wore it when they wore it against us at the Turf hadn't tgey forgotten their away strip or something so they emptied the club shop of the old stock ...cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 12:22 pmThe green and black was my favourite. Re: Burn the blue.
It was Southend.
For some reason they thought their away kit of all red would be more appropriate against our Claret than their all blue home kit
They turned out in the great combo of jade/black shirts, red shorts & socks

Re: Burn the blue.
Always loved the yellow shirt since we first got it (from what I remember anyway) in 2005.
The best one was our Champ season 2015. That was a beautiful shirt. If ever we had to ditch the claret and blue, I couldn't think of a finer combination than yellow with claret trim.
The black ones I've always hated.

Re: Burn the blue.
Our 1891 - 1893 kit reminded me of a Partick Thistle kit.
I had a quick look and noticed their kit from 1905 -1907.

Re: Burn the blue.
We had a yellow strip..with umbro diamonds in claret and blue sleeve trim and claret and blue striped collar s....back in the '70s. I got it for Christmas and was very chuffed. Saw us draw 2-2 at Ewood on a Boxing Day with the team wearing that kit.
Re: Burn the blue.
We did win once in the green and black - an FA Cup replay at York.
I wonder what colours have been selected for next season’s change kits? I’d presume white would be one seeing as we’ve not had it for a couple of years.

Re: Burn the blue.
Well the good news is that with our next away opponents playing in a top with lots of red and black shorts, the yellow kit should see another outing.
