MOTD
To be fair, that was a decent focus on how well we played..........makes a change!

I'm not used to hearing words like excellent and fabulous being used about us on the tele.

First time in many, many moons that we've had a fair crack of the whip.
See you all in 3 years time the next time we do.

Re: MOTD
I dont like chelsea, I think when we were newly promoted and played them their attacking style was a thing of beauty. this lot look ordinary by comparison.

Re: MOTD
If we play well, as we did today we'll rightly get praised, but we can't expect the pundits to give us credit when we are poor.
I generally find Shearer is pretty fair when he's discussing us despite his Blackburn links, and he gets why we play the way we do.
Having not seen the full game, what caught my ears was the lavish praise both Brownhill & Westwood received, and it must have been a long time since we dominated the midfield in such a fashion, and that even includes many of our Championship games.

Re: MOTD
Excellent report on us from MOTD but then to be fair the ex bar steward does usually sing our praises. I think Shearer is a genuine football man and but for his obvious link I think he is excellent and better than most pundits.

They are generally pretty fair.
Most weeks there’s not much to praise.

Re: MOTD
I've only seen the 3 minute highlights, but all the Burnley chances on there would have gone down as difficult chances. They'd all have been excellent goals, but there wasn't an instance where you'd expect us to score but didn't.
JBG hitting the post, Mee hitting the bar, Woods goal and McNeils goal would all have had a very low Xg. The fact two of them went in doesn't change that.

Re: MOTD
Good coverage last night, however when showing the analysis, it would have been nice to include some of that in the overall game highlights. Shearer is always complimentary about us (I think he secretly likes us lol).
Conversely, I couldn't believe how much of the Leeds v Chelsea 0-0 they showed, bit strange that.
Hopefully this is a starting point to playing more football on the deck, as the players look a lot more comfortable as a unit when we do this.
I fully agree with Shearer that Dwight should score more goals, he needs to back himself more.

Got to admit I’ve not taken much notice of Xg before but I thought it was based on the stats of previous games not the game being playedduncandisorderly wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 9:30 amI've only seen the 3 minute highlights, but all the Burnley chances on there would have gone down as difficult chances. Unfortunately I'm beginning to like Shearer . I feel very ashamed of this , and need to apologise to all at Utc ! I couldn't understand why 2 of our penalty appeals weren't shown or the other one not even discussed .

Re: MOTD
Spoke about this on another thread but I’d have had Vydra’s chance down as a 50/50.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 9:30 amI've only seen the 3 minute highlights, but all the Burnley chances on there would have gone down as difficult chances. Re: MOTD
I'm with the others above... how was our XG only 0.75 (Mee, Vydra, Wood's attempts surely decent) and Everton's 1.70... aside from the DCL missed header I can't think of any other 'clearer' chances than ours
