Brighton v Newcastle ...
Ok, so what do we want here ?
a) A draw, one point each, keeping them both looking anxiously over the shoulder ....
b) Brighton win, still a point behind us, and worsening Newcastle's points difference ....
c) Newcastle win, leaving them 2 points behind us, and Brighton 2 points worse still ...
d) Not bothered, we're going to be safe through our own efforts anyway ....
Answers on the back of a used tenner, to the usual address please !!

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
A draw means only two points being handed out so that, for me, is the perfect result. But given our positions now I don't think there is a bad result for us because if it's not a draw then one of them loses.

Both defences are far superior to both attacks. I can only see a 0-0, so won’t bother watching.
Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Draw is best. Not sure after that. The main thing was Fulham losing last night.

In this order
0-0
Any draw
BHA win

The fewer points NU have when we play them the better.

I hadn't taken into account the fact that we have to play Newcastle but not Brighton so potentially that means a Brighton win would be better than Newcastle winning.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 1:09 pmIn this order

I would take a large Brighton win as it puts Newcastle in the mire

Who gives us more problems next season, assuming Fulham have put themselves firmly in that third relegation slot?
For me, it's a difficult. As much as I want Bruce to fall flat on his flat nose, I feel Brighton will be better next season. A draw works for me.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Not too bothered. Whatever the result it means that one of the two teams below will get zero points or they both only get one point each. I think Fulham will need a miracle to stay up and it won't be at our exxpense.

Can’t say I am that bothered. I don’t like either of them, but then I don’t really like any other club......
Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Brighton win, it's in our interest for the bigger clubs to go down making our task a little easier next season.
Plus the meltdown on Tyneside would be a sight to behold.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
If Newcastle stay up this year then next year they will change their manager and be massive. More massive than a massive thing with big loops on it.
They will be bigger than West Ham are this season.
If Brighton stay up they will continue to be sh** but believe that the season after they will be massive!
So not really bothered - but I would like to finish above the Yorkshire massive.

Less of the Yorkshire please, i don't like to be associated with that club.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
The way I see it that it's better if Newcastle get relegated. They're a takeover away from spending money like it's going out of fashion. The same applies with Fulham in that they are likely to spend big in the summer, so Fulham or Newcastle joining WBA and SU is my preference.
A (0-0) draw preferable - Brighton win after that.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Draw suits me just fine, but if either is too win I'd rather it was Brighton, watching the Geordies implode is amusing, and it'd be funny to witness Hendrick and Shearer's reaction to Newcastle's demise.
Plus Brighton will still be in the mix next season, whereas if Newcastle survived they'd probably improve next term.
From a neutral POV it would be brilliant to have a Fulham-Newcastle final day showdown.

A draw hopefully otherwise a Brighton win.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
My favourite would be the (only 2 points between 'em) draw option.
That would also leave both sets of these fans bricking it to some degree which would give some fair entertainment.
The bookies still think Fulham will be the 3rd relegated team (10/11) with Newcastle at 6/5 and BHA at 12/1 (almost as long as us- presumably on the basis that they'll get points today).
I'd guess Fulham fans are hoping for a BHA win so that Newcastle stay well within reach (knowing they have that Fulham v Newcastle last round game as a final throw).

Isn't this game what some posters often refer to on here as 'a free hit' after the result last night?

No. A free hit is when we are playing, with the thinking we expect to lose and can afford to lose due to what's happened previously.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:08 pmIsn't this game what some posters often refer to on here as 'a free hit' after the result last night?

As Easter draws closer, this is the time of miracles!
Can't they both loose?
Failing that, a 0-0 or, a Brighton win.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Sadly they can't both lose, however they can both drop 2 points, hence why the draw is probably the best option for us, a point for either doesn't really help them.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 4:28 pmAs Easter draws closer, this is the time of miracles!

Fulham losing makes it far easier for us to be rather less bothered tbh and ultimately other people's results shouldn't matter as we SHOULD be good enough to retain ownership of our own destiny and if we don't it will be entirely our own fault. If pushed I'd probably say the draw is best for us.

That reads like 2 people having a conversation. One is saying they want a draw and the other saying it doesn't matter what anybody else does and we're safe.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 6:01 pmFulham losing makes it far easier for us to be rather less bothered tbh and ultimately other people's results shouldn't matter as we SHOULD be good enough to retain ownership of our own destiny and if we don't it will be entirely our own fault. (BTW I DEFINITELY didn't say we were safe because we're most certainly not. But it is, thankfully, in our own hands for now and let's hope it stays that way)

Nicely engineered injury to Newcastle’s keeper to allow Bruce to have crisis team talk on the touchline. Or am I just being cynical?
Anyway their keeper seems to be fine...

Hmm! Hendrick comes on for Hayden and Brighton score immediately.
Newcastle will have to come out and play 2nd half now, I suppose the question is are they able, they've offered precious little going forward thus far.

Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
Brighton win this and the bottom 4 become adrift given there's so few games left in the season, I agree if either are to gain a win I'd rather it was Brighton, plus don't forget Fulham-Newcastle on the final day, so as long as we're clear of both then we'll be fine, as it happens I think we'll be well clear, and if we beat Newcastle then we're pretty much safe already, and given how poor they've been in recent months, and our massive improvement also, then I fancy us to win that game, it looks to be a straight fight between Fulham and Newcastle, and if it goes down to the last day I'd favour Fulham to get out of it.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 8:53 pmNot too worried tbh. Re: Brighton v Newcastle ...
To be fair, Stayingup, Bielsa and Leeds are that bloody good they will probably win this game. They can win any game they are, or not, involved in. I've heard Leeds are the only team City are worried about catching them. In fact, if Leeds win their next game City are going to concede the title to the best team in the world. Even if Leeds don't get more points than City then they will (rightly so) declare themselves "Champions".
Oh, and, WAHLS.
