How a club can spend £1m in 2 transfer windows, then have the cheek to take away the DD option AND increase prices for people who got a refund is beyond me.

I'll just pick and chose my games. If I want an away ticket one I will be able to get one anyway through people I know with season tickets.
Again what is the relevance ? Will we spend less or more than 1m now without the DD option ?

Is this 1m sum you mention the only expense during the last 12 months ?

Bit of a mess this, isn't it lads. I was sort of hoping the new broom might at least manage to sweep away these sorts of cobwebs.

So why then, Rileybobs, are they telling me one thing, about direct debits being categorically not available for the 21/22 season, but then saying "will be finalised in due course"?

Is the fact that they are telling fans they are categorically not offering direct debit options, and "re-offering direct debits for 22/23 season" - is that not final enough?

Sounds quite cut and dried to me.

They also told me that all tickets are to be paid for online and in full - no evidence of telling anyone else that, anywhere

I don’t know why you’re asking me, ask the club.

It seems like the club are accommodating individual requests for information. Clearly the club hasn’t finalised prices and payment options for next season since their information release just 1 week ago. They may have decided on certain things and passed this information onto individuals who have requested it in order to assist them.

When they have finalised all outstanding items they will no doubt release a statement. Or do you expect them to release individual statements for every season ticket related decision they make?

By being accommodating to fans such as yourself the club are coming in for more criticism because you are then publicising what you have been told. Perhaps they would have been better to reply to all fans with a stock response advising fans to wait until the details have been finalised.

Will see on that one. Proof of ID potentially coming in that will put a stop to that.

Excellent, much needed, but does the away ground check?

Early stages but some clubs going that way. There could be a requirement to know who is in the grounds. Totally agree about it being needed.

I’m a bit confused as to what we are doing at Burnley. Initially we were told that all tickets would be on phone or print at home but last week they said season tickets would be loaded onto existing cards.

It's a good idea, but almost unworkable, I could buy a ticket for an away game, showing proof of id, but then pass it on to anyone to use

I was also bit bit surprised about it being loaded onto cards after what had been said previously

So it looking likes prices are going up and it has to be paid in full from what’s being said? Unless you carried on the DD over the pandemic

The theory goes they would check i.d. at the turnstile.

Cant see football clubs managing to enforce a Proof of Id process for tickets and entry into the ground.

I've been to a couple of music gigs where it has been name on tickets and ID needed to match before entry and still managed to get in with a ticket bought 2nd hand. This is where the venue and security and ticketing process has been all set up with this in mind.

Last time I did it my mate and his missus had genuine tickets and I got mine off someone on Twitter and I just put my ticket at the bottom of my mates and went in as a three on their ID. Security guy just checked the top ticket and ID and assumed the rest were the same and off I went.

If you think looking at the state of this thread that Burnley FC are going to be able to competently run and enforce something like this anytime soon then you're in dreamland

Only way to check is a photo... Tickets don't have photos on and we don't have to carry photo id....

Won't happen. If it does and I chose not to get a ST ill just get a friend to buy my ticket then ill get the actual ticket off him.

Makes sense now I get ya. How much do you think the squad should improve with your £400 ?

You say that you aren't going to bother now with a season ticket due to them not giving the option of DD payments, surely you have already paid for next season with this years payments meaning you don't need the option next season

I got a refund, I figured I needed the £400 more than a multi million £ Premier league football club.

Some fans really are than gullible in believing everything the club tell them about being skint aint they

Not sure who is being gullible, do you mean those who didn't get a refund only did so because they thought the club was skint ?

Those that believe they are 'helping' the club by leaving money with them, everyone was entitled to a refund, the club have used blackmail tactics to bully people into leaving the money with them.

The club are wrong on increasing the price and the direct debit option - but people still love to defend them as they see us as little old burnley

I've read all this thread, save some people some hassle:

Things are not very clear currently. We must await further info, though its likely to annoy many people if you like DD payments.

End.

No, for not leaving my money 'on account' they now want more money for a ST (or at least say they might)

Did you really feel blackmailed and bullied ? What about those who left their money in due to it being easy to let it roll, knowing it then paid for next season and had nothing to do.

Nothing you are saying makes any sense, why would someone see the club as little old Burnley due to a possible price increase and the lack of the DD option for 1 season which everyone was told would likely happen.

This is the theory.

1. Your ticket has your name on it.
2. You carry i.d. (possibly photo i.d. depending on the conditions, but may be a credit card or such like) that matches the name on the ticket.

Would it work in practice? Don't know. It would certainly be a beggar for (eg) parents who take turns at taking their kids on, or shift workers who share a ticket.

Just been told that my TeamCard balance for the 4 missed games has been moved into my On Account balance. This was done after I emailed the club requesting it. It has certainly left my TeamCard balance. So far so good. Cannot use said money until May to purchase my season ticket, and cannot actually check it’s on my On Account as I can’t get to the payment screen yet. Credit to the ticket office so far though.

But if you'd just left your money in you wouldn't have had to pay any more (if prices go up)? So by withdrawing your money you've left yourself open to the future cost increasing and the club explained this when giving you the option to leave it or withdraw it.

How is the club using blackmail tactics by clearly explaining to you the possible situation if you withdrew your money. If they hadn't pointed out those possibilities they would then have been criticised for that. But even it it was blackmail, it obviously didn't work, seeing as you still withdrew your money! ;)

It was "if you take your money back you will probably have to pay more" its pathetic tbh, why can't I just pay the £450 (either DD or In Full) in May? Iv'e had my money back as I was getting no football.

I get peoples arguments but I can bet it aint just me feeling this way and it wouldn't surprise me to see a lot less sales because of it. The DD thing is a massive own goal - not many in Burnley have £500+ , more if you have kids just to splash out.

Without reading the entire thing can I ask this. I've carried on paying for my season ticket throughout the current season by direct debit. Will I now get a "freebie" for next season (using my current match card) assuming we're allowed back on? And then renew in March '22?

You need to renew your ST on the website. If you don't renew, you will not have a ST next season.

Read the article DC ... you NEED to renew using the monies you have on account that you have paid by direct debit ...

It might be but had we gone ahead with the limited numbers (as some clubs did) then you would have had to provide proof of ID at the turnstile before entry. It was then, and might subsequently be, that a football club will need to know who is in there.

That doesn't make it unworkable. It's a flaw, but it does at least mean that Joe Bloggs knows who is using his ticket and that Joe trusts the person to behave himself. Joe isn't going to lend you his ticket or his credit card if he doesn't trust you (a) to behave yourself and not get thrown out; and (b) not to nick his cash. It's far frm perfect, but it does stop Joe selling his ticket to just anyone.

And at the entrance you are required to provide photo id (a credit card would not be acceptable).

And at the entrance you are required to provide photo id (a credit card would not be acceptable).
Not sure just how this would work if they were going to check everyone's ID, as it would take ages to get everyone into a ground. Unless they only did random checks, so if you were trying to get in without the correct ID you then ran the risk of being one of those asked to provide it? Also, wonder what would be accepted as photo ID? Wouldn't fancy having to take my passport!

How would that work for kids?
Most adults will have a photo ID such as driving license or work ID, but the only thing most kids will have is a passport if at all

No idea how it might work but I know some clubs are now seriously looking at this

Not everyone has photo ID.... And by law, in this country, you are not legally required to carry, or own such ID.

Its a bit hazy but in Athens I think you did have to show your passport when you collected the tickets from the Hotel. From memory it seemed a bit informal and not being adhered to and also im sure one person could just show their ID for the batch of tickets.

That said im sure we all took our passports with us to the game because of this though I doubt someone wouldn't have been able to get a ticket of a mate if they needed one.

In Athens the tickets could only be given to individuals. I had ordered five but all five of us had to go to the hotel. The tickets also had to have passport numbers written on them. There was some checking at the turnstiles but there was also similar checking at Aberdeen.

I think the group we were with knew the girls dishing out the tickets so I dont think all the passports were fully checked but we definitely all had ID with us to match the tickets. It just seemed the kind of set up if you went as a big group when it was busy you could have probably got away with not showing every passport like we didnt end up doing.

I never saw anything at the turnstiles but I was pretty hammered by then so could have easily not noticed

I can’t think of her name now but when I went for mine it was the police liaison officer dishing them out.

Messaged 10 friends who have season tickets saying they need to renew by the 23rd, honestly didn't know myself until reading this thread this evening.

3 had done it, 1 had tried but failed to complete the change of online accounts, 1 had heard it was faff but hadn't tried, 1 took the money back and the others thought like me they automatically renewed.

Hope the club don't mind some hand-holding and increased communication on this
