Didn’t he say that United needed to give solksjaer time?

Isn't Neville a minority shareholder along with a group of others and the major shareholder being Philip Lim - more than just him in the process we would have to assume

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
He’s a good talker is Neville but he had a torrid time managing his mate (Peter Lim’s) club in Spain. I’d hate someone like him running our club. As his brother said on the latest series on Sky: “We have to win promotion every season.”gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 2:35 pmDidn’t he say that United needed to give solksjaer time?

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
Lim owns 40% with all of Beckham, Butt, Scholes, Giggs and the two Nevilles having 10% each but there is no doubt who runs the club.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 2:38 pmIsn't Neville a minority shareholder along with a group of others and the major shareholder being Philip Lim - more than just him in the process we would have to assume

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
You are dead right,CT, Neville talks a good game. A good full back in a very successful team full of quality players but sometimes appears to be unaware of the problems most football clubs have to deal with daily, even the better teams in their respective leagues. Obviously never mentions his disastrous spell with Valencia but I thought it might at least make him a little more empathetic when it comes to hiring and firing. Evidently not, however.

So direct style Graham Alexander sacked after an unbeaten start because he reportedly refused to change his policy and play more easy on the eye football.
Easy on the eye football coach Richie Wellens sacked for reportedly refusing to play route one football.

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
He's not as good as he talks. He's proven that when he was manager of Valencia. He thought he was a good manager, so took the job and found out he wasn't.
He's now sacking managers after publically saying managers need time.
The perfect example of somebody earning more than their worth.

What are the odds for our Sean
Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
Just an odd decision, one of many, there. What is their end goal? Where do they realistically see what is a lower level non league club (new found riches aside!) in the footballing pyramid. It'll all end in tears one day.

Pretty sad, really - Wellens was loved at Swindon, as close as a guaranteed job as you’re going to get and gave it up for a vanity project.

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
They demand promotion every year and want to be in the Premier League.
The Nevilles were cursing what had happened to Bury when they lost their place in the Football League. As Bury fans they were distraught (mum Jill was still working there until close to the end). They said people should be helping to save them. Meantime, said brothers were piling millions into a club five miles away.

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
I've watched the Salford documentaries on Sky and it's quite clear that Gary Neville is a good talker but a terrible listener. He thinks he is right about everything. I suspect that's why he failed to get the dressing room behind him in Valencia and why he fails to give any manager who doesn't agree with his way of doing things time. He clearly has no sense of irony either. In the early series he was talking about how they had been brought up at Utd under one manager and that's what he wanted for Salford rather than chopping and changing all the time. Pretty embarrassing really.
Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
People might disagree with the Nevilles and Lim’s decision to replace another manager but at least they use their own money to buy and run the club so they are accepting the financial risk of their decisions.

I think Gary Neville should take over and show everybody what a good manager he is like he did at Valencia utc

At least he had a go..... Far too many ex pros think they can just have an easy life in the media, criticising every manager without actually ever giving it a go themselvesLongsidelenny1882 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 7:20 pmI think Gary Neville should take over and show everybody what a good manager he is like he did at Valencia utc
Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
Any manager there has to be nervous with wannabe managers as owners
Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
Just don't see it working long term. Someone will lose interest when the finances needed spiral. I can see them reaching the Championship, but even sustaining that level of football for a club the size of Salford is a huge ask, even with finance. Seems an ego boosting project in my opinion.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 6:09 pmThey demand promotion every year and want to be in the Premier League.

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
sadly for the genuine fans this sort of nonsense is what is to expected when the club of choice is controlled by loudmouths with money to burn and huge egos into the bargain. Decent folk at grass roots level get trampled into the ground. Very sad.

Re: Gary Neville sacks another manager
I’m not too sure that all the references to the Valencia failure are particularly fair given it's the Spanish equivalent of perhaps going into Spurs as a manager as your first gig doubled down with hardly speaking the lingo. Perhaps an example would be if Frank Lampard had of gone into Chelsea as his first gig without Derby first. Even then he failed as his second job.
All that said Neville likes the sound of his own voice as much as some on here that’s for sure and he certainly makes himself look ridiculous with those give managers time comments. He is a good pundit because he often makes valid points and certainly makes people buy into them. He is also very biased as a co commentator on United games so Sky should not give him those. He’s definitely way better than spit the dog in that regard though.

At least there won’t be a clash of personalities, with Bowyer and Neville. Bowyer hasn’t got one!Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:38 pmGary Bowyer, bloody hell. Could talk a glass eye to sleep...
