Danny Ings
Danny Ings
Pep keen on making a move for him this summer. Wants him to replace Aguero. Ings has stalled on a new contract, Saints have offered him £100k per week. Pep keen on Erling Haaland but doesn't want to be involved in a £100 million bidding war with Chelsea and Utd. Hasenhuttl still hopeful Ings will stay loyal to his boyhood club.

Re: Danny Ings
Ings made it clear he wants CL football recently.
He wanted a clause in any new contract at Saints that would allow him to move on if certain clubs came in for him.
If City get serious Ings will go, none of this boyhood club stuff will stop him.
Arsenal have a decision to make about Lacazette this summer and I'll be surprised if they aren't eying Ings up as a replacement.

Ings at City will be worth watching. He'll do well if he can avoid long-term injuries.

Re: Danny Ings
Probably his last big move, good luck to him. Could end up a great career considering all the serious injuries he's overcome.
Looking back, we started 2013/14 as underdogs in the Championship with three future England internationals in the side.

Good luck to him if he ends up at City. But if he does I reckon his opportunities will quickly become limited.

If Ings wants Champions League football he’ll still be wanting it if he moves to Manchester City, because he won’t get in their side.
Obviously the lure of a Premier League winners medal and a huge pay packet is massive, but I do think his opportunities will be very limited in terms of appearances.

you think Jesus is much better than Ings ? I'm not convinced by him at all, I'm not saying Ings is good enough for City thoughBurnleyFC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:12 pmIf Ings wants Champions League football he’ll still be wanting it if he moves to Manchester City, because he won’t get in their side.

I think Ings with the likes of De Bruyne feeding him would be absolutely electric.

If Jesus was that good they wouldn't be looking around at someone like Ings.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:32 pmyou think Jesus is much better than Ings ? I'm not convinced by him at all, I'm not saying Ings is good enough for City though
Personally I think Ings would score more than Jesus at City.

Re: Danny Ings
I don’t think he’d look out of place at City to be honest. The strength of their squad and fact that Pep is more than happy to play without a natural striker would be a concern for him, but it’s not an opportunity he’s realistically going to turn down.
Re: Danny Ings
If he can score a goal every other game for Southampton, I don't see why he shouldn't do it for Man City.

Re: Danny Ings
If the interest is genuine and the offer becomes reality, how could you possibly turn down an opportunity to play up front in a side that has the likes of Foden and De Bruyne behind you.
Re: Danny Ings
With all due respect to Ings I'm surprised Man City aren't going all out to sign Haaland who is a few levels above.

Ings would be fantastic with the service the Man City team could offer him - leading goal scorer by a country mile (however long that is). Injuries will always be his kryptonite though, but I wish him well

Re: Danny Ings
90% of teams play defensively vs City whereas as it’s vice versa against teams like Southampton.
He gets a lot more time and space to stretch his legs at his current club which plays to his strengths.
I don’t think it would be a good move for him. But would be happy to be proved wrong as he deserves some success at a top side.

Re: Danny Ings
He'd also cost over £100 million at a guess, Dortmund play hardball when it comes to selling as Utd discovered with Sancho.
If we are basing a price on potential for Haaland an argument could easily be made for closer to £200 million depending on his contract, plus his odius agent will want a cut of any fee
Ings enters the last year of his contract this summer and won't cost silly money.

Re: Danny Ings
I've just been looking and Haaland has a release clause of £75 million, but it doesn't become active until next summer.
Re: Danny Ings
After Haaland reached 100 career goals in fewer matches than Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimvovic and Cristiano Ronaldo, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he's about the hottest prospect in world football and will attract interest from the very biggest clubs in Europe.

Do we still get a %?
Re: Danny Ings
As good a player as Ings is (he’d do well at City) for where they want to be and the financial clout that City have, it should be Haaland that they’re after.
Yes, he’d cost a lot more in wages and fees but he’d also offer way more and for way longer. Add Ings’ injuries into the mix and Haaland would be a much better option.
Jesus is a good player but he just doesn’t seem to be progressing to the levels that were expected of him. It’d be a real signal of the Premier League being ‘the’ league if both Haaland and Mbappe ended up here rather than at Barca or Real.

Loved Danny Ings when he was with us, thought he was very unlucky at Liverpool and was clamouring for us to be in for him when he left them (however unlikely that was always going to be)Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:32 pmyou think Jesus is much better than Ings ? I just don’t think he’s as good as the majority of Manchester City’s current attacking players and that includes Gabriel Jesus.

Haaland would be great for City but they don't pay the top wages like United.
Ings would also be good for them with his pressing style on top of his goals.

Re: Danny Ings
I think Ings would be a perfect replacement fro Aguero.
They obviously want someone in the same mould, style, so they don't have to change the way they play, and Danny has the first touch, the close control and eye for goal, that would thrive in a city team.
I can't understand how anyone could doubt him. So hopefully it comes off, then I can have a many 'I told you so'.

Re: Danny Ings
Not to mention being only 20, 6'4, extremely quick & physical and with as many goals as he has played games wherever he has been.taio wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 5:46 pmAfter Haaland reached 100 career goals in fewer matches than Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimvovic and Cristiano Ronaldo, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he's about the hottest prospect in world football and will attract interest from the very biggest clubs in Europe.
Re: Danny Ings
I'm not sure Haaland is suited to the way City play tbh. Aguero was complaining the other week about being in good positions and just not getting the ball.

Re: Danny Ings
We were entitled to a percentage of any profit Liverpool got for him so it will be dependent on whether Liverpool have a clause.
