Re: I was hopeful
Awful is an interesting adjective to use.
1st half was decent, but I agree 2nd half England have gone into 3rd gear, but its difficult to assess a performance when the opponents simply camp in their own penalty area.
It's mismatches like this that make a mockery of international football, and the sooner some type of seeding system comes in that means teams play against equivalent opposition all the better.

Sarfgate has been studying City. Pass, pass, pass, pasz, pasz, pazz, pazz, pzzz, pzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Utterly awful with zero entertainment. If all English teams keep tuning in to Pep the PL will die. English fans want goal mouth action not meaningless passes.

Did you notice out of the 30 plus shots, how many were from outside of the boxhuw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:46 pmSarfgate has been studying City. Pass, pass, pass, pasz, pasz, pazz, pazz, pzzz, pzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Re: I was hopeful
I switched off at half time when I that they were making 4 substitutions for the second half
Thought that was quite disrespectful to Sam Marino tbh and made it more into a friendly than a World Cup qualification game

I switched on at half time... imagine how pro-Southgate I feel right now. That that will be spun as a creditable performance only tells you he expects little more from his multi-millionaires, against the lads who will be tipping in to their day jobs tomorrow.
Great for Pope, but the media seems a deluded as ever about Southgate’s England for me.

Re: I was hopeful
I only watched because of Pope starting (not that he was expected to do much) and it confirmed just how boring it is watching England. The same old tripe being mentioned about really good youngsters, and a plethora of options when we beat a team we should do, but it'll be the usual stuff when we face anyone decent. There a noticeable love-in for Villa it seems too

We didn't do bad compared to others, or is your issue we didn't score 9 or 10?

Expect far smaller pools in terms of round structures if that did ever happen, the smaller minnows however mismatched make the numbers up allowing for more rounds until you get to the later stages, we would all like to see Spain vs Germany etc etc but a start needs to happen to enable a progressive finish.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:27 pmAwful is an interesting adjective to use.

31 shots commands at least 10 goals with them so called superstars vs part time worst ranked
Re: I was hopeful
I tuned in to watch the team in blue zipping the ball to feet. After a couple of minutes I commented out loud. 'This San Marino team don't look like the world's worst team, they look quite comfortable', My wife stared at me with a puzzled look then started laughing. 'We're playing in BLUE!' She screams.
How often do we play in blue? Thought we'd be in red if they were in white.
Game was pretty poor though.

I like the way Peps teams play. The problem is no one else has the players to adopt that system. Certainly not England.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:46 pmSarfgate has been studying City. Pass, pass, pass, pasz, pasz, pazz, pazz, pzzz, pzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzz.

A good manager plays to his players strengths, he doesn't try to adopt someone else's.
I wish Southgate would drop off the face of the earth, but sadly even if he went the FA would only appoint another in his ilk. As long as football is run by business men instead of football people, we are shafted.
Re: I was hopeful
Yep dont usually bother watching England ( under southgate more so ) however made an exception as Pope was playing and the wife had a bath so no box set to continue with.
Nothing much has changed, decent first 30 mins, but generally flat, boring and with no urgency.
Other teams wallop these and try and really put them to the sword, however we seem content with just doing the job.
Turned off at 70 mins and got an early night in.
Hopefully I wont fall for it again next time, hurry up Pickford get fit so I dont need to tune in.
On a side note I cannot believe Southfate said in his pre match interview he knew his starting 11 for Croatia in June, no wonder the players look like they're going through the motions.
The yes man has already got his favourites, so if he keeps the media happy and onside, he might ride out a other 18 months to 2 years as a manager, as it probably will be his last job.
Tactically inept.

The usual rubbish on here from the usual suspects. A 5-0 win is still not good enough. People who use this message board are so negative and depressive. You need to start changing your pattern thoughts as ive also noticed the negative people are also the ones who fill the board up with their mental health issues. Your lives are impacted by reoccurring negative thoughts. it might be time to talk to your doctors for some help. Good luck.

As long as it isn’t Boothroyd. I watched Dwight in the afternoon. A team with Dwight, Hudson-Odoi and Eze came on late. Wonderful crossers and waiting in the middle Nketiah, isolated. What a joke. I felt for all of them.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 7:22 amI wish Southgate would drop off the face of the earth, but sadly even if he went the FA would only appoint another in his ilk. Re: I was hopeful
I actually thought we played well! Created loads of chances, lots of sharp quick passing at times and I enjoyed watching it. I thought the tempo was good from the start, pleasantly surprised.
Re: I was hopeful
First game for months, but the passing and movement was excellent. It augers well for the future, but we need to remember our potential route to the Euro final; Portugal, France and Germany. Those are the real tests but we also must qualify for the World Cup. I think Wednesday's game against Poland will be a better barometer for us.Super Teds wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 8:41 amI actually thought we played well! Consider why you are here then? Sounds like it would be mutually beneficial for all parties if you cleared off.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 7:50 amThe usual rubbish on here from the usual suspects.
