Mistake from Ben but a quality finish from Ings, you just knew that was going to be a goal as soon as he left Ben for dust

Hmmmmmmmm. Defence has gone AWOL. Can’t expect to score 2 away from home and not be winning.

Whilst in no way having a pop at Charlie we were 0-2 up when Erik went off and were bossing the game.

Enjoyable half that. Let's start the second half well.

Why the hell did Ings have to be fit for this game. He’s going to one of those ex players who scores a lot against us.

Enjoyable first half helped by both defences looking a bit shoddy. Could go either way still but I reckon more goals and a 3-3 draw.

Ings knows Ben Mee too well. It should have been pointed out to the defenders nothing fancy when Ings is sniffing. Dyche has a job to do but I still think we will win this, next goal is vital.

Great game to watch , end to end.
I'm a Burnley fan, but I'll always be a fan of Danny Ings, he really is quality.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
We look really good going forward and there could well be another goal (or 2 in us) but we're uncharacteristically open at the back and we could easily lose this 5-2. Saints have struggled for a while due to injuries to key players, but with everyone fit today, including the pivotal Ings, they look a very good side offensively. I want to take the draw right now and move on.

I’d love to have a player like Ings in the Burnley team

A bit disappointing to squander a two goal lead.

Well said Ringo
Real end to end stuff but i just wish Ings was Irish .
They have a lot going forward but look sloppy at the back.
Not sure how the 2nd half will pan out should we take a draw or go for it ?

Ben Mee isn't quick enough to get in a foot race with anyone in the premier league.
He needs to stick to a central position and keep to basic defending which he is good at.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
It’s been the exciting football many have asked for. We need to find the balance between opening up to attack and score and keeping the shape to not concede. That said, Ings has been fantastic for them, and when you have that quality in the team you’ll always open up the tightest defences.
It’s enjoyable so far, I’ll be disappointed to lose it though, but I think we’ll be OK and may well just win this

We will still have chances to score more in this game, Southampton committing big numbers forward, we just need to ensure we are more clinical with the passing on the break.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
Southampton 2nd goal started with keeper playing it out from the back. Had he just taken the safe option and booted it then they would still be losing. Just highlighting for those who think passing out from the back only costs goals

He got lucky... throw enough sh!t at the wall and some of it will stick, I struggle to find many positive posts from so many “burnley” fans on here, sometimes it’s tiresome - though I agree they have a fair assessment of Pope on this occasion.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 12:58 pmSorry DD watching it back it was perhaps poor positioning COYC

Yes that’s probably it. I remember blowing a two goal lead twice.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 1:15 pmAre you thinking of the West Brom game a couple of weeks later that we drew 2-2 from leading 2-0?
