We are not picking up the second ball, SD needs to find a way of getting some zip back into our legs

I’ve never seen Bertrand roll around so much, always liked him but he really has annoyed me with his antics today

It would be nice to see us prize some space open rather than booting it and hitting long crosses.
Either way we deserve to lose because we were so sloppy in defence.

Westwood has been awful today. He is not good enough, we need an upgrade in midfield. Been saying it for months.

If he doesn’t score in that time, he’s never going to make it.djemba-djemba wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 1:50 pmNice to see Richardson get 54 seconds plus injury time.

Hugely disappointing day. Certainly not safe yet. Newcastle next is now a big game. Need others to do us a favour later.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
Not enough quality since Southampton got back into it. We really need a BIG midfielder coming in during the summer. I know a lot want a youngster but I think someone who has the experience to boss our midfield. Hugely disappointing after our start.

Utter rubbish. Cannot believe we threw away a two goal lead so easily.
Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
Really poor after giving ourselves the best possible opportunity. No control of the game, awful mistakes, awful defensively and barring fifteen minutes, the midfield was anonymous.

They waste a minute during injury time yet nothing gets added. We'd have probably lost anyway but still a joke.

Southampton improved considerably after the early period and from their point of view they needed to.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 1:53 pmBlown 3 pts there. Why change what you are doing when 0-2 up?

No excuses after throwing a 2 goal lead away. Southampton deserved their win
Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
They deserved the win. We were rubbish second half. Very poor to lose a 2 goal lead slip against a relegation rival. They are out of trouble now but we are not. Midfield must be upgraded.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
Probably a good game for the neutral, but we simply couldn't keep the ball and looked all over the place in midfield and defence. A couple of good saves from their keeper in the second half tbf as we do pose a threat going forward, but the better team won in the end.

Cork and Brownhill in the centre has to be worth a try.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
Hugely disappointing after going 2 ahead, just hope this doesn't derail the rest of our season.
Come on Spurs and Villa we could do with a couple of favours now.
The plusses are we are now scoring goals, but it's incredibly rare for us to throw away a lead let alone a 2 goal lead.
We should still be ok, but today's collapse has made our task somewhat harder than it should have been.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
after match...TV shows Wood having shirt pulled in their penalty area - Souness say I think that’s a penalty or have the laws changed can you do that now?
Commentator says that’s a debate but unfortunately games are coming thick and fast and we’ve no time to debate it!
No...but I bet if it was Man Utd or Liverpool they would have delayed next match to allow full analysis!

Disappointing, in the end though we could have lost by a large margin as they missed a host of chances on the break. Typical for us to play them when they have Ings back.

Re: Saints v Burnley - Match Day Thread
I hate to sound like a broken record but our midfield has no idea how to protect the defence or control a game. Westwood and Brownhill are simply not good enough for the PL, especially as we play with two men wide: we get overrun in midfield by every team in the division. This has to be the area to strengthen.

Ings the difference between the teams. a goal and 2 assists and a not to be forgotten big goal celebration.
