I think Mourinho's future is behind him.
Re: Newcastle v Spurs
Anyone can beat anyone. Teams below us can certainly string a few wins together just as we are able to have a few stinkers together. Without Grealish Fulham will fancy it today and I think they will get something. Still a lot to play for.

A very poor Spurs perfornance.
Must not lose for next week.

We were lucky Newcastle only drew
Re: Newcastle v Spurs
I’ve been assured by many on here, that we’re not in a relegation battle. I hope they’re right!

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
Oh! well at least Newcastle didn't win, frustrating though that if we'd have seen today out we'd be pretty much safe now, Instead we face a crucial encounter next week against a Newcastle side who appear to be on the up.

Big, big game against Newcastle coming up.
Can't afford to lose it especially if Fulham pick something up at Villa.

I couldn't quite be bothered to do it, but betting on that equaliser was printing money at 8/1 for a draw after 80 minutes.

Always difficult for the away side after an international break with all the travelling the players have been doing, it breaks their norm and effects performances.

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
True but their performances have arguably deserved more, and they certainly won't be an easy opponent next week, so we'll need to have our game face on when they come calling, 3 points next Sunday and we'll be just about over the line baring the shouting, but a draw or even worse a defeat, and we'll be nervously glancing over our shoulders once again.

Villa are just asking to concede. Very very weak when Fulham attack.

Fulham play good football, they did that 2 years ago when they were in the Prem. But their performances rarely brings the result.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 4:41 pmThe way Fulham have started i think Newcastle with turn up at the Turf next week in the drop zone.
I'd prefer Newcastle to drop though - Dyche will be in the hat for the job if they stay up.

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
As it stands we are, and the Newcastle & Fulham games have now assumed even greater importance, win next week and it's hard too see how we'll go down, however lose and suddenly it's getting very tight, and we'll be right in the mire.

Yep & Newcastle looked pretty decent today.
Hate watching games like this needing other to do us favours.

You’ve contradicted yourself, we need 3 more points. Then we won’t be in a relegation battleEricaJacko wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 4:00 pmThey are right, once we get 3 more points. If we beat Newcastle, we're sorted.
Re: Newcastle v Spurs
You just know damn well Callum Wilson will be back for Newcastle next week, their best goal getter, just like Ings was today!

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
Without Grealish Villa look very ordinary. When you consider how much the team they have put out actually cost it doesn't say much for their recruitment.

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
They definitely lack a spark when he's not playing, and of course every club will miss key players, but the real worry for Villa is their drop off is so acute when he's absent.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 5:06 pmWithout Grealish Villa look very ordinary. And it's too our credit that we notched 4/6 points against them when he played in both encounters.
When you consider the vast funds Villa have spent over the past couple of years their performance is average at best.

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
HT 0-0 Villa pen rightly overturned by VAR bang on the whistle, and without Grealish Villa have yet to muster an effort on target.

Villa penalty overuled by VAR. Correct decision, unfortunately.

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
Defo penalty for Villa not given. Why does the ref go and look at the monitor, can’t VAR make the decision?
Re: Newcastle v Spurs
I thought it was in real time. But appears a good use of VAR to change the decision.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 5:24 pmDefo penalty for Villa not given. Why does the ref go and look at the monitor, can’t VAR make the decision?

Re: Newcastle v Spurs
That's an understatement, and you do wonder how they'll cope long-term if he opts to move on this summer, they struggled badly when he was absent in their first season back in the top flight, and were incredibly fortunate to scramble over the line in the last few games when he eventually returned, now I'm not saying they're a total one man team, but he's a vital cog in their machine, and when he's not available they suffer big time.
