Complained on the MDT about Marriner clogging up the midfield by getting to close to the player on the ball.
This is Madley in the Villa match. Just stood still and totally blinded McGinn to anything down the right wing.
He only needed to take two steps back and open up the field for him.

I think if the ref gets in the way, the best thing he can do is stand still.

He doesn't know what they're going to try.

Can't argue with that because a lot of the players don't even know what they are going to try. The ref most likely assumed that he would be passing backwards or sideways because that keeps the passing statistics high.
