Scott Twine
Linked to us & QPR today. Swindon midfielder who seems a FK/long range goal specialist & out of contract in the summer.
21. Decent prospect. Free. What’s not to like?

Sign him up and loan him to QPR, we get to see what he's like in the championship, that way it's not such a big jump up.

We'd need to get him tied down to a decent contract first.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 6:53 pmSign him up and loan him to QPR, we get to see what he's like in the championship, that way it's not such a big jump up.

Re: Scott Twine
He’s a very good player in league 1. Certainly the type of player we should be looking at.
I am just hoping for more of ready made signing to come into the squad at CM. Arguably our weakest position quality wise.

He’s at a loose end in the summer, makes sense to try and tie him down to us

Absolutely, Sid.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 8:19 pmKRBFC first mentioned it recently during another discussion and in all fairness it's a good idea.
If we aren't going to spend big we should have a few irons in the fire.
A stitch in time, & all that...

Re: Scott Twine
It’s a very good idea. Given the relative pittance of L1 players, it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all to buy & foster through loans to the Championship. Would be a good strategy and hopefully mean we had a quality team ready to take us up if we did go down.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 8:19 pmKRBFC first mentioned it recently during another discussion and in all fairness it's a good idea.

Re: Scott Twine
We regularly see Brentford picking them up cheap from the lower leagues and developing them in the championship to sell on for big money.
It's time we just cut Brentford, the middle man, out of the deal.
That's what I'd like to think our rebuilt scouting network etc have been looking at doing.
Brentford signed Toney for an initial £5 million, rising to £10 million inc add ons I've read.

Re: Scott Twine
Or buy the players and see whether Brentford want to loan them back?GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:25 pmWe regularly see Brentford picking them up cheap from the lower leagues and developing them in the championship to sell on for big money.

I think the jump from L1 to Prem would be too much for most players, but loans to the Championship would be a good solution.
May also be a reasonable solution to the Knight/Collins type situations.

Re: Scott Twine
Definitely the type of young player we should be trying to sign but he has only played 15 games at league one level, it’s a hell of a jump to premier league.

Beyond our reach.
Real Madrid will be in for him to pair him up with Gareth Bale, then they will have the Real package.

Re: Scott Twine
We certainly can afford to buy players then loan the out Chelsea style
We need players to add to the first team squad not ones for future who never play for us like RVDS and Bersart Berisha

Re: Scott Twine
I don't think RVDS was one for the future. He was late 20's when we signed him.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 12:45 pmWe certainly can afford to buy players then loan the out Chelsea style

Re: Scott Twine
Apparently they're expecting to get 200 to 300k for him if it goes to a tribunal. There are a few suitors, not sure he's taylor made for us though as he doesn't often track back and help out the defense.
The information I heard was a bit woolly but Swindon have offered him a new contract and it's just a case of tying up some loose ends but that could be someone spinning a yarn.

Has anyone noticed that this lad's surname is the same as the English word for a strong string made from interwoven strands?

Re: Scott Twine
If we signed him I think he could, in time, become a vintage claret, Twine.
Re: Scott Twine
Lot of needle on this thread. Can't we see eye to eye? Not much point, otherwise.
Re: Scott Twine
One story on HITC but nothing else since. Has anyone managed to unravel this mystery? Is it a real story or just a bit of spin from an agent as usual?
