Loch Arkaig Ospreys
Shouldn't be long now - it's fascinating to watch the adults arrive, the eggs being incubated and the chicks being fed and then clear off for another year.

Oh dear, still hurting is it, Steve old lad ? Funny thing is, the people that matter know it's not me that spoils threads.....
Go ahead, fill your boots, I'm not sure how you can "spoil" a thread on soon to be nesting ospreys. I've just given any bird-fanciers - ooooer - the beaks up about the osprey webcam, I couldn't give a toss what people post about it, it's not my webcam or my site.
I'll let you know if one of them has a dodgy eye.........
Woof, woof !

There were some on Esthwaite Water too, just below Hawkshead. Presume they still are.
Amazing creatures.

Re: Loch Arkaig Ospreys
The ospreys on Bassenthwaite Lake, five miles from me, haven't arrived yet, but it won't be long.
With patience, and a decent pair of binoculars, it's fairly easy to see them fishing.

Re: Loch Arkaig Ospreys
I used to visit the Rutland Ospreys every year when I lived in S Lincs.
Apparently 11 nesting pairs were scattered around the private estates within that very posh part of the Country - Leics/Lincs/Cambs/ Rutland

The hides are pretty well placed around Rutland - having said that I've only ever seen one osprey there. Great location, though, and a decent cycle route around it.

Used to see Ospreys regularly when fishing on the Dovey, in the 80's. Much rarer were the Red Kites which are everywhere now.

We are so lucky. See the Ospreys and the Bald Eagles fishing in the lake behind our hose in Florida. It’s brilliant and I’m not a twitcher ( if thats the right word )

Oh dear, Tim, now look what you've done. Upsetting the Brotherhood is just not on.
Loving your Saga advert pic, Stevie..... "Look at me, everybody, I can walk!"...... Tired old guy pretending he's not...
That's just embarrassing.
EDIT - Thank God you've had the sense to take notice and get rid of it.

Re: Loch Arkaig Ospreys
Yes, I saw that yesterday. is it just the single osprey at the moment or are they both back ?
Cancel that, I've just read the comments section. Just the one bird so far. The other one is waiting for her test result......

To correct what I posted a few days ago, there have been two adults at Bassenthwaite Lake since 31st March.

Re: Loch Arkaig Ospreys
Just spotted this "ad" on the Arkaig webcam forum....
"RENT FREE!
Attractive lochside eyrie available for West Highland summer season. Very peaceful and very quiet.
Open plan design, retaining some original-wood effect features.
Partly refurbished, but needs some TLC.
Blessed with stunning views.
Occasional intrusion from hoodies, martens, owls and midges.
Applicants should have a head for heights"
Time is running out for this particular nest to be taken over for this season. There are plenty of pairs of ospreys in the area but it seems that none have decided to settle on this particular one.
Tsk, nature eh ?
