The Funeral date and time
The funeral of Prince Philip is next Saturday at 3pm we are now in a 8 days of official mourning .
Shame that it will all be in Winsor, but I guess all tv channels will show it.
Will the Wolves v Sheffield be a later kick off?

Re: The Funeral date and time
It wouldn't surprise me.
Re: The Funeral date and time
I would like to think so. The royal family and watching the funeral may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but no one should be made to choose between watching the funeral or watching football. Some things should and do take precedence.

Reports today say sport won't be affected... However out of respect the league could change the 3pm kick offs

I wasn’t aware anybody was being made to choose, you can watch either or both at separate times, it’s a matter of personal choice what you want to watch or do.

Thank goodness we play on the Sunday, and this won't affect us, at least I assume it won't.

Re: The Funeral date and time
The post I responded to the premise was watching the funeral or watching the football, them 2 options were on the table, of course the 3rd option exists but that wasn’t mentioned in the post I was responding to
Re: The Funeral date and time
Stop being purposefully obtuse. No one is forced to watch either, however there may be some who would like to watch both events live, and as I stated some things take precedence.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 6:13 pmI wasn’t aware anybody was being made to choose, you can watch either or both at separate times, it’s a matter of personal choice what you want to watch or do.

Re: The Funeral date and time
I’m responding to exactly what the situation is, people can’t watch both events live? You can’t hold off burying dead people because it coincides with a live football game, hang on Mr undertaker, we’ll do this at 5pm after the football game finishes, it is what it is, it’s down to personal choice what people want to watch or do, people can’t rearrange funerals around football matches to suit some people & not others, you decide yourself what you want to do.
Re: The Funeral date and time
Your density is increasing with every post. It is entirely possible to move the football as they have done for many other much less significant reasons. If the move the game or not doesn’t bother nor will it affect me as I have no wish to watch either.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:11 pmI’m responding to exactly what the situation is, people can’t watch both events live? Please grow the f#ck up and stop being purposefully dense (I incorrectly assumed obtuse initially, apologies)

Re: The Funeral date and time
Prince Phillip purposely requested his own funeral to be carried out with minimum fuss, he didn’t want football matches to be moved or rearranged, he wanted it as low key as possible, that was the dying mans own wishes.Zlatan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:16 pmYour density is increasing with every post. Re: The Funeral date and time
Absolutely and that’s what the man is getting. However at the request of the Queen and the royal family, in order to stop stupid people turning up on the doorstep, they have decided to transmit the service via TV so that people can have the choice to watch. If you cannot see that there may be some (might only be 1 person) that may want to watch both live, then it may be an option for those who decide this stuff that to move the football (as I say if they decide this) will be easier than moving a Royal Funeral.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:19 pmPrince Phillip purposely requested his own funeral to be carried out with minimum fuss, he didn’t want football matches to be moved or rearranged, he wanted it as low key as possible, that was the dying mans own wishes.

We should all carry on as normal & if people want to respectfully mourn so be it & if people want to respectfully remain silent so be it, nothing needs to change at all, let people do what they decide to do respectfully. Good evening.Zlatan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:24 pmAbsolutely and that’s what the man is getting. Re: The Funeral date and time
I’ll watch it, no issue with those that don’t but you usually find those that don’t want to watch it have to tell the world why they refuse to watch it, and those that do seem to have an issue with those that don’t want to.
Each to their own, I have my own reasons and will be watching I’d have thought.

EFL games to be moved

I apologise for being offensive towards you. I agree that people should do whatever they wish. Good evening to you too.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:30 pmWe should all carry on as normal & if people want to respectfully mourn so be it & if people want to respectfully remain silent so be it, nothing needs to change at all, let people do what they decide to do respectfully. Re: The Funeral date and time
The issue is choice. As long as their is a choice of TV viewing there is no problem.
What shouldn't happen is what happened the day he died when, in the case of the BBC, BBC Four for example was closed down for the evening and there was wall to wall Prince Phillip coverage on the other channels. The BBC in particular has an obligation to ALL their viewers including those that have no interest in Prince Phillip.

Same with all BBC radio stations. To be honest, on Friday I felt like joining the Defund the BBC mob.Hipper wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 9:03 amThe issue is choice. As long as their is a choice of TV viewing there is no problem.

Re: The Funeral date and time
Taking into consideration the enormity of what’s happened & given the shortish period of disruption coupled with catchup TV pretty much on demand 24/7 I think most people are prepared to cut them some slack, the way some people go on it’s almost like the members of the royal family are dying every day & the disruption is all the time, give it a week or so probably not even that & things will settle down for sure.

We all knew he was dying but nobody knew when, despite his health problems he always used to bounce back & almost created an illusion of being immortal, it’s a hell of a shock to some people still.

Nonsense, he's been ill for some considerable time. I think the signs were there the last time he left hospital - behind screens, clearly coming home for his last few days/weeks. A pity but he's done alright.

Re: The Funeral date and time
This is an excellent Twitter read. Princess Alice, Philip's mother, led a very eventful life. Please take the time to read it, it's well worth your while.
