Dyche, has he lost interest?

Post by burnley007 » Sun Apr 11, 2021 1:48 pm

Clearly made no attempt at turning the game around.
You can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome.
What's his excuse this time??

What could he do? Cork for Westy or Brownhill is the only thing that might make a difference but even that is arguable

I hate his pathetic substitutions.

What’s the point in bringing Mumbongo on in the 91st minute?

He did the same last week with that other young lad. Why give them about 90 seconds?

Of course Dyche has been losing Interest.

I blame the Bank Of England for setting Rates so low. :D

“No attempt” we don’t have a single difference maker on the bench. Not one. He turns around to his bench looking for some inspiration and who does he see? Joel Mumbongo.

Complete neglect over a number of seasons has led to this.

He should have countered ASM and Wilson coming on with Cork coming on for either JBG (with Brownhill moving right), or for Brownhill himself. That was always the threat and it surprised me he didn’t change a thing when faced with an entirely different problem.

Charlie Taylor on for Pieters would have been a more productive sub.

Someone’s added me to a group of Burnley fans, I’ve been in stitches all afternoon at them all, like 12 year olds and absolutely clueless about football.

Don’t know any of them and won’t be hanging about but it’s been entertaining. It’s called Burnley FC - UTC if anybody else has ever had the pleasure

No.

But long ago the board lost interest in giving him decent options on his bench.

They had Wilson and Maximin to come off theirs to make an impact.

Whereas us?.........

No. He’s just suffering the fall out from a succession of poor transfer windows and decisions to stick with ageing players.

Only one (not so star) signing for one million won't have lifted SD's spirits. Poor midfield and add to that recent defensive woes will have him cursing I'm sure. Palace, if an offer comes, might be a good escape route even though to me its a sideways move.

No team has a devine right to win games, but last week and this week just shows SD's achillies heel. He just doesn't seem able to move away from his initial game plan, no matter how much things change during the game. We are so lucky that Fulham appear to have gone, to have got 2 points out of Fulham, WBA, Southampton and Newcastle is just shocking.

Unfortunately Sean is not very proactive. Especially last week when 2-0 up he could have ensured the 3 points, probably today as well when leading 1-0. Any change from a 4-4-2 formation is alien to him even though a 4-5-1 or even 3-5-2 formation could prove beneficial when a goal or two ahead. Having said that, hindsight, as always, is easy. As my German friend texted after today's result: it seems that Burnley lose more games the better they play !!

The reason we were short of attacking options is that Rodriguez was given time off to see his baby being born. If you want to criticise Dyche for letting him go, that's fine. But we have 4 good striking options and to spend many millions just in case one of them had a baby at the wrong time was never going to happen. It's a nonsense to think it would.

It's in a way remarkable to think that vydra has kept his attitude and enthusiasm level so high when he was occasional fourth choice for so long. How do you think an experienced fifth choice might have reacted?

I think SD showed nothing more than we currently have no answer to strength and pace running at us, last week it was Ings. We have traded pace at the back for solidity but when someone can get a run at us we have no pace tracking back. Teams know that while Westwood and Dwight offer us plenty going forward they are open to the counter attack down our left. Taylor at right back would have been useful once the subs came on, but he was not available. Just some teams have players who can unlock our solidity. I’m sure SD is aware of the problem... it has been far more evident this season than previously, but it is not easily remedied.

That's why Man City always hammer us, because they are so good at one-touch, pass it round the defenders, don't give the defence time to react stuff. Spurs did the same at White Hart Lance a few weeks back.

Under Dyche, we have never been at our best against packed, efficient defences (which Newcastle were, for once!) with the pace and skill to do quick breakaways.

Grumps, with all due respect I've had to listen to posters post drivel about how recruitment has actually been ok over the past few years and how we never had any money at bank- people have said this all year and in summer too! Those posters are as deluded as the ones who knee jerk after a result!

Posters such as elwa, dsr and grumps show that they understand the game and our strengths and weaknesses and are able to articulate without throwing a silly tantrum over Dyche's alleged ineptitude or, ffs, lack of interest. It's to do with experience and commonsense as much as age.

Nothing wrong with your post. As I said, the more experienced and level-headed posters on here understand our strengths AND weaknesses and the reasons for them, the lack of recruitment included. They just don't throw a tantrum after every defeat.

I doubt you could show me one post which says we recruited well last summer, or this January, you're just making that up, and I don't understand your point... Never had any money at bank.... Like I said, I reckon about 12yr old, just before they get into proper sentence construction at school.

Has he lost interest, personally I think he has.

Is it his fault he's lost interest, definitely not.

I think the overwhelming majority have recognised we've needed better recruitment and we've had money in the bank to enable it.

Nope, just the result of several failed transfer windows.
Thankfully we had "a fan" in charge, and he was great at squirreling away a nice 80m nest egg whilst keeping season tickets frozen again.

But plenty couldn't see the wood for the trees, so have to accept it for what it is.
