No game changers off the bench. There lies the problem
And it doesn’t look any better after 3 Stellas and a bottle of red

Re: Burnley v Newcastle - Player Ratings
BPF - 6 - No dramas. Good save before they should've had a pen.
Lowton - 5 - Hit 1st man on a cross too often.
Tarky - 5 - Some good stuff, some sloppy. Sold too easily by ASM for the 2nd.
Mee - 5 - Petrified by pace, back off, back off. Needs to do better alongside Tarks for 2nd
Pieters - 4 - Poor all-round. Never helped Dwight. Passed it to him then went inside, causing Dwight to have to try it all on his own or turn back. Should've come off for Taylor as soon as Newcastle made their changes.
Brownhill - 4 - Poor. Ran about a bit. Never really got involved. Let's people run off him too easy, as for 2nd goal. Cork needs to come back in.
Westwood- 5 - How many times is he going to do that little clip into the box? Got about, but is constantly giving the ball away.
McNeil - 6 - Totally reliant on him to do something. Some great balls into box. No support from Pieters or centre mids.
JBG - 5 - Offered nothing. No pace to get past anyone, poor delivery. Upgrade needed.
Wood - 7 - Great play for goal and generally did well. Good understanding with Vydra, especially when we play into feet.
Vydra *Mom* - 7 - Oulet ball, until we started hoofing it into box from 40 yards. Linked up well with Wood.
1st 30 mins we were comfortable, and then Newcastle had 5 mins that spooked us and should've had a pen. There would have been uproar on here if we hadn't got that.
2nd half we started quick for 10 mins, but then knew what was coming when they brought ASM and Wilson on, and totally failed to adapt. Panicked everytime ASM got the ball and instead of engaging him backed off to let him do what he wanted.
Really disappointing as Newcastle are woeful, but showed exactly what we are lacking with ASM - pace and creativity.

Re: Burnley v Newcastle - Player Ratings
Peacock-Farrell 7 did nothing wrong
Lowton 6 crosses weren't quite on it today
Tarkowski 5 meh
Mee 5 really shown why he's never played for England
Pieters 5 struggled today, needed Taylor on
Gudmundsson 5 tried, but poor
Westwood 4 really misses Cork
Brownhill 5 great without the ball, average with it.
McNeil 6 reasonable
Wood 6 quiet today apart from the goal
Vydra 7 looks a threat.
Dyche 3 Wake up man!!!

Re: Burnley v Newcastle - Player Ratings
BPF 6 (I'm not sure about the goals, but maybe they were really unstoppable)
Lowton 5 (No problems with with his overall game, except absolutely woeful crossing time and again)
Tarks 6
Mee 6
Pieters 5
Westwood 5 (+1 for some really good corners)
Brownhill 4 (-1 for yet another absolutely embarrassing free kick)
JBG 5 (More rubbish crossing)
McNeil 7 (Tried hard to get something going, but yet more poor crosses)
Wood 6 (Excellent for the goal, but.....)
Vydra 8 (Caused them problems all game, so fair play to him)
We have OCCASIONALLY this season looked like our usual selves, but far, far too often we have looked at shadow of what we've come to expect. We've never been a great "watch" but bloody hell if we got our noses in front we were damned hard to shift and if you scored against us you'd either been very lucky, we'd made a blunder or it was a worldy! These days we look far, far too open and like we're never going to keep a clean sheet. We pressed and pressed Newcastle and we looked more than decent going forward, but too many crosses were awful and we lacked that that bit of invention to score more than once against a poor defence. I will say we have been slightly unlucky in that Ings returned for Saints last week and Saint-Maxim returned this week and both of them made all the difference to struggling sides and are a class above the teams they are in.

Yep, no-one ever saves NP with a goal-line clearance.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:31 pmLet us not forget that PF was let off a third goal by Tarky.
Lad looked proper shaky through all of the 2nd half. He is not the future.
