A great season I watched every game that time.

Great to be back for the Easter break with plenty to look forward to. Can't remember either of the goals but I do remember Mick Doherty having to be subbed quite early on. I'd been so pleased a week or so earlier for Sunderland reaching the FA Cup Final against the odds but surely they wouldn't spoil our night in two days time?

It's strange but I can't remember too much about this game either - I think all the emotion of the whole thing was getting to me by this time. There are definitely a couple of games to come when I can remember much more.

Seems recent to me but some of the news stories read like they are from a different age. Tragic circumstances but a lovely contrast between Mrs Greaves and Mrs Ingham.

There was definitely more than 1500 Burnley fans there that day. Huddersfield's previous home game against Millwall attracted only 5,551.

Burnley Express the day before said to expect 1,500 but it was an unbelievable turnout.

I only missed one match that season and that was the 3-3 draw away to Middlesbrough

I wouldn't like to guess how many but definitely more than 1500

It was a huge following. All on their Longside. The Cowshed lot made to come round for a 'chat' but bottled it when they saw how many we had.

That's where I remember us standing. In fact,at the time, Leeds Rd. ground was almost identical to how Turf Moor was, certainly for 3 of the sides.

Leeds Road was designed by the same architect who had earlier designed Turf Moor.

I was on their Longside as well and distinctly remember a ladder being there, leading up to the TV gantry. My mate decided to get a better view and climbed up. And was very forcibly removed from it by a copper.
Sad day for Mick Docherty, that injury more or less finished his career

The Doc injury kept him out for the season. It was the one in the following season that did the damage but he did come back and play another 100 games or so before he retired.

Didn’t Doc get carried off in the first game back in Div 1 at Sheffield U ?

I didn't know it, either, until a few years ago, when I read an old football book specifically about British football grounds.

Really? Leeds Road wasn't anything quite as similar to ours as some thought. Their terrace on the side looked similar but had been there much longer than ours in terms of the structure above the terracing.
