Lancs-Northants

Post by tiger76 » Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:47 pm

Thought there would have been a thread on this anyway Lancs 173-4 at tea, runs for Davies and Bohannon who's just been dismissed, Vilas at the crease and from a Lancs POV we could do with him going big again.

I watched a bit just before lunch and saw Davies run out

200 up for Lancs, but it's been slow going, 300 plus on here would be decent, and give our bowlers something to work with, and generally the bowing is our strength.

Villas gone 212-6, Kerrigan has bowled OK but our lads have treated him like Bishen Bedi

Not a great day for Lancs, started off well in the morning session, and then the stupid run out of Davies totally changed the game.

264-8 isn't brilliant, but if the tail can nudge us over 300 and claim the extra batting point that'd be a start, then let's see what Lancashire's attack can do on this wicket.

Away from Lancs Broad has just struck with a peach of a delivery second ball of the day against Warwickshire to make it 30/3. Sibley is injured so not sure where/if he will bat.

Good effort by the tail this morning, 305 all out. A couple of early wickets and we could be in business, track looks flat and understandably not much pace.

Some usual runs from the tail, and gains us another batting BP, they could all be vital if it's close at the end of the season, pitch doesn't seem conducive to stroke play, so if Northants are going to get close to Lancs 1st innings, or even surpass it they'll have to work for every run, assuming of course Lancs bowl well, but that's not normally a problem for us.

4 wickets for Kerrigan. And in other news a HT for Mohammad Abbas. And Zak Crawley out for just 1 this morning, a terrible shot to boot.

Scratch the above Abbas has 5 in 14 balls now. Middlesex 14-5 and staring down the barrel.

Indeed! we might even bowl them out today, that would be ideal, and then give us ample time to set a huge total.

Didn't get the BP for 300 runs
More than 110 overs unfortunately
Just the 2 extra points for the batters

Ah! didn't realise that fact, not that it should matter in the context of this match, but I just hope we don't live to regret our slow RR ln this innings later in the season.

9th wicket pair being annoying they've already added 44, and Kerrigan again proving a thorn in the side.

177 all out eventually, Lead of 128 for Lancs, should be enough for us to build upon, but perhaps not as much as we may have hoped for at one stage.

Lancs 60-0 at the close lead of 188, be good if Jennings could get a score tomorrow he's been badly out of nick.

As for the game Lancashire should be looking to bat until just after tea on day 3, and then attempt to bowl the visitors out in the overs remaining.

Ben Foakes and Ollie Pope starring with the bat for Surrey, both hitting unbeaten half centuries.

That will please the England selectors, as will the early season form of Stuart Broad, he looks as good as ever.

It pitched outside leg so he wouldn’t have got the lbw. Thank goodness Rossington stood tall to watch it pass.

Lancs 223-6 lead of 351 declaration must be imminent soon.

Croft playing a good hand unbeaten on 68, but no other Lancashire batsman has passed 40, plus they has been a couple of run-out's, that's 3 in the match for Lancs, and that will need to be tidied up for the tougher tests to follow.

Ollie Pope sending out a loud message to the England selector's he's currently unbeaten on 222 as Surrey pile on the runs against Leicester.

Ben Foakes also making 87 in that innings.

Wickets for Mahmood again, surely Lancs will wrap this up swiftly tomorrow.

Century for Joe Root, and Pope finally dismissed for 245,pleasing for England to see their key batsman in good early season form.
