It’s not a consortium but the family who own King Power. I think it’s now virtually owned by Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
No way you typed that from memory

I expected more from Klopp.

Considering his previous stance, his comments just now were rather weak.
he is contracted to the club, I didn't expect him to say as much as he did. It's nailed on that all involved have been told to say nothing

Thank God he's an owner not a player, you'd never get those letters on the back of a shirt ! 8-)

and a twitter account both posted on the thread last night

interesting thing about the website is that it has a dutch option - which has lead to speculation that Ajax may be invided, but no Potuguese option, Porto already claim to have turned them down

Already hearing rumours that Chelsea and Man City are trying to U-turn from this #ESL mess. Neither liked idea, but ‘had to follow’ or risk huge financial problems. They think they can persuade Spurs and believe 3 English clubs will be enough to dissolve plans. #THFC #CFC #MCFC
Huge financial problems, with their multi billionaire backers!?

If they’re prepared to u-turn on the back of today’s reaction, I can’t imagine what they expected the reaction to be.

Is any one else appalled that, as a proud founder member of this country’s football league, we have been totally silent on this all day today?

I hope there is one set of US Owners in the PL who are going to stand up for our games heritage.

Speak Up Burnley!

I think that is the point DCWat... they had no idea, they expected Manchester would be rocking at the news. They live in a separate world to the clubs fans.

We seem to be one of the only clubs that hasn’t posted anything. Really disappointed, thought the new owners would want to show face with the fans.

The teams knew there would be a huge backlash from local fans but they did it anyway. The entire point of this exercise is they calculate they don't need them anymore.

They've lied for years claiming to be steeped in a century of tradition and at the heart of the community while they manufacture a global corporate enterprise in plain sight.
Now has come the time where they've done the maths and decided they don't really need support of the towns their named after and they don't need to pay teams like Burnley to make up the numbers.

on what charge - the clubs have done nothing yet - UEFA do not have a legal leg to stand on there - never mind the rebate repercussions from broadcasters

this comment came this afternoon from a Danish UEFA member - Ceferin the UEFA President was more cautious saying that they would have to consult legal advice - he was right but then again he is a lawyer

If PSG join the four of them could finish it off in the summer before next season starts. It could be the inaugural European Super League Cup.

That would be some way to launch the new league and if they played it over in the US it would be $$jackpot time$$

It would be wonderful if this UEFA executive committee member is proven to be on the ball and receives the support of the other members . UEFA are mad!!

I agree - they haven’t actually done anything yet, which is presumably the legal issue. They could just chuck them out and tie them up in legal action for a few years. Not paying them any more money would have the same effect short-term, even if they end up handing it over in the end. I’d love them to come down hard on these lot, even though I know they won’t :(

Well some fans are happy. Know a Juve fan in Italy and their lot are happy about it and don't see what all the fuss is about.
The main arguments are:
- they are the main suppliers of all these great TV deals as they are the sell and they should have most of the cash / more percentage.
- they claim they want to stay in Serie A & Champions League / Euro comps. (How that is possible I'll never know with 18 other games minimum to play in their new league.
- The financial issues due to COVID means they have no choice but to do such a thing.
- Seeing as they're the most successful club in Italy they have the right to do it. They aren't breaking any laws, just wanting to form a new league which gives them more money basically. If others want to do it with other partners/clubs then they are free to do it.
- Problem in Italy is criminality & mafia organisations and they are also deep in Italian footy; many links with ticket sales for example. Maybe there's been a bit of pressure on Agnelli who seems to pushing this a lot and seems to have gone back on his word to the UEFA president who called him a liar. It may sound like a film but I'd believe it, do not take Mafia organisations in Italy lightly. It's well & truly alive and kicking.

Make of that what you will.

I'm trying to find it but I heard an interview today who was saying UEFA has rules which say If teams currently playing in UEFA competitions want to start a new competition you must bring it before the committee for approval and discussion.

I find the hypocrisy of the 14 other Clubs almost as bad as the 6 that chose to do it. I am 100% against the idea but let’s not kid ourselves if invited everyone of them including ours would have said yes!!

I saw a poll today which showed the percentage fans against the idea was in the high 70s which suggests around a fifth of fans may be for it. I would guess most of these are young impressionable fans

The private equity guys fed on the carcasses of the 2008 credit crunch. They are doing the same on the footballing carcasses of a post pandemic, regulated UEFA myopic world. Football is losing because those that run football are less intelligent than those who can provide finance

can someone explain to me the facts of this breakaway league.
All I have heard all day is speculative and indecisive. Am I correct in thinking the clubs involved know full well the seriousness of the repercussions from their respective leagues and associations ?
Also the consensus seems wholly negative from all clubs fanbases, therefore where do the clubs expect to garner support.
Is there really sufficient interest in foreign markets ? who will broadcast these fixtures? and where are they expecting to sell this product?
I assumed foreign interest was based on our leagues, and it was currently a big seller as it stands now.
I find it hard to believe a new structure with limited teams with no relegation would captivate anybody for more than a few weeks. It sounds hideous. Do all clubs involved face expulsion from cups and leagues imminently?

Call me naive but I truly believe you’ll see a club back out within the next 48 hours due to the strength of feeling being displayed.

If it doesn’t happen that quickly though, then this is going through. Just my opinion.

You'll never believe it but VAR have only gone and awarded Fulham a place in the Super League #tinhattime

At a #PL meeting tomorrow, the other teams are set to agree to demand Manchester United, Liverpool, #ManCity, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all leave the league at the end of the season.

Are they any more geared up?

The ones with the best lawyers won’t be on the side of the government.

Well I think they’ve managed to extract us from Europe and removed the entire populations civil liberties (not suggesting either are wrong, just complex issues) - pretty sure they could find ways to expunge these clubs entirely, never mind their financiers, if they wanted to.

I think that is the point DCWat... they had no idea, they expected Manchester would be rocking at the news. They live in a separate world to the clubs fans.
I genuinely don’t think that’s the case. They only need look back to project big picture to understand just how opposed the majority are to their greed.

They knew full well what reaction they’d get. They’re intelligent people.

See my reply. I think the Government have some pretty decent Lawyers.

Not to mention every power needed to stop an ESL game ever taking place in this country, if they wanted to. I hope today’s statements aren’t just rhetoric.
