BBQ advice

Post by CaptainKirk » Sat Apr 24, 2021 1:36 pm

Looking to buy a couple of BBQs to leave in a holiday cottage.
Think I prefer real fire to gas.
Must be easy to clean etc

Any recommendations from UTC would be appreciated.

You are making a contained fire, so set up your barbecue in an open space away from fences or trees. Have a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby, and keep kids and pets well away. Use long-handled tongs and proper barbecue equipment with insulated handles, or you may burn yourself. Enjoy

"I'm buying a BBQ which is not for me and will be abused, can anyone help?"

Yeah, buy some cheap ones you can replace easily.

These will do https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2870520

I have a very basic small Weber kettle BBQ which has served me well for 8 years simple and hard wearing

I don't get it. Humans have developed so that we can now spend £1000S on halogen hobs, microwaves, fan ovens etc to cook in the comfort of their houses and yet some people want to cook over burnt wood in a steel drum outside their house like cave men
Madness

Weber make solid stuff. Just finished a smoked brisket on one today. Really happy with the results and very easy clean up afterwards. I use gas but that's just my preference, they make good solid fuel ones as well.

might just be my bad luck, but every BBQ I have had the misfortune to attend , the food has been atrocious.
either undercooked or burnt to a frazzle. flies, wasps, and food poisoning.

Wilco for £50 ...
Same as what we've got absolute bargain
Very sturdy for the price(wheels abit dodgy but light enough to pick up to move)comes with a cover as well

I made a wooden rack that bolts to the cross members 🙂 that stiffens up the whole chassis ... also acts a place for keeping stuff like the BBQ tools etc.

Must admit I agree about the wheels though 😏

Love the fact you can just pick the bottom tray out and tip the ash in the bin
Like I said unless you want to pay silly money it's probably the best you'll get for under £100

Get them with a grill small enough to fit in the dishwasher if for a holiday cottage. Otherwise you’ll be pratting about with cleaning them at changeover or deposit retention chaos.

Love my Weber but I wouldn’t trust it with tenants.
I prefer Krombacher
I’ll get my coat

👍🙂👍

Also the fact the grills slide giving access to the coals for topping up the charcoal etc, without needing to try and lift off a hot grill 😏
