Chris wood
Anyone who doesn’t rate this man is clueless. Would walk into any side in the premier league. And the way him and McNeil combine is unbelievable.
Top top striker.

Nout like getting carried away!
Superb striker though. Has his bad spells but what striker doesn’t. One more goal will make it 4 consecutive seasons with double figures in the Premier League. That is remarkable for a player outside of the self proclaimed “big six”.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a big club came in for him, as a back up striker.
Had a horrible start to the season but finishing it fantastic again

any club would have him. United had ighalo last season ffs. He’s scored almost 50 premier league goals now for us and we are a side who doesn’t create chances. That first goal was world class.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 12:27 pmNout like getting carried away!

He’s not walking into somewhere like the Spurs side.

Superb first half for our man.
If he had been playing for Liverpool yesterday, he would have had 10!

Re: Chris wood
One of the greatest signings we’ve ever made.
£15m in 2017 was nothing at this level, and he’s sunk almost fifty Premier League goals since then. I’d love to get the list of who has scored more at this level between August 2017 and now, I bet it’s some bloody big names.

I await the list of strikers that are better and more consistent than him.
I imagine it’s a very short list and all will have cost or be worth well north of £30m.

Re: Chris wood
Had a poor first half of the season and missed some chances that he'd have taken in season's before. We wouldn't be in this position had he got a few more earlier in the season. Not blaming him but he is vital in our survival and has come to the fore when needed.
Great finisher, a bit of arrogance about him, & takes the responsibility; has proven to be a vital cog in our chain and we're lucky to have him.

Don’t wanna spoil the moment, really I don’t, but to suggest he’d walk into any PL side is ludicrous.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 12:23 pmAnyone who doesn’t rate this man is clueless. Would walk into any side in the premier league. And the way him and McNeil combine is unbelievable.
Top top striker.
Great player for us, better than even I thought and I’ve always liked him. Can’t remember who it was who put his stats up on here as almost a 1 in 2 striker. For what we paid that’s incredible. That would cost you £40m these days.

In the form of his life.
I commented last week that he’d been good against Newcastle and last week was the best I’d seen him for us. Today was another level again. It won’t last forever but let’s enjoy it while it does.

Re: Chris wood
Chris Wood is the 1st striker to score a 1st half HT in an away PL game this century.
That's some stat considering Aguero, Kane, Salah & Vardy to name only 4 play in this league.
And yet again he's hit double figures, 4 seasons on the trot now.
Wood cost £15m, compare his stats to the likes of Joelinton amongst many others, and he's clearly proved a value for money signing at that money.
But it's not just his goals welcome though they are, it's his hold up play, and making defenders earn their corn, no defender has an easy time when facing Wood, just ask Harry Maguire if you don't believe me.

Re: Chris wood
Could not get my head around some of the comments on here this season. A top, top player. Ever since he ‘eased’ his way past Duffer and beat our Tom with that crashing shot in 2014 I have been impressed by him. As others have said, like most strikers, he has lean spells, but you cannot argue with his goal scoring record and his huge contribution as the focal point of our attacking play.

Re: Chris wood
I'd suggest he'd walk into most teams in the PL.
Superior to several strikers who've cost far more than he did, like Mitrovic and Joelinton to name but 2.
To hit double figures 4 seasons running is some feat considering how few chances we create.

I don’t know if anybody else picked up on Dyche’s comments about him after the game.
Basically saying that when he plays hard, and he doesn’t always play hard, but when he does he is a fantastic player - as he showed today.
I thought that was top drawer man management. That little incentive not to rest on his laurels and keep working, all said at the perfect time.

A mention for Vydra, looking very much upto speed with the work and fitness ethic...just needs to get that bit of confidence in front of goal and that lad will be a player. Question is, will he stay.
