Hopefully get 2 wickets in time for the extra bowling point cause weather don't look great to get a result in especially with the decent batting pitch

A balanced 1st day, Lancs did well to pick up a few late wickets, but 300+ on the board is decent by Sussex.

I see Yorkshire's batting hasn't improved shot out for 206 against Northants, although after last week I won't celebrate too soon

Yet another 100 for Cook, but also several batting collapses, Hampshire, Warks and Kent blown away cheaply, and Derbyshire are 86-8 replying to Notts 1st innings.

Davies gone for 34, after an opening stand of 93, but a welcome 50 for Keaton Jennings who's still there alongside Wells, 117-1 currently.

128-1 at tea a good afternoon thus far for Lancs, Jennings 57 not out, let's hope he can go on and get a ton in the evening session.

A good fightback by Northants, they were 81-5, now 195-6 and just 11 runs shy of Yorkshire's 1st innings total.

Jennings gone for 60 shame he couldn't go on to a bigger score, but at least he's finally showing some form. 139-2.

Croft gone now 150-4, what on earth has happened since tea, it was all going smoothly, and now if Lancs aren't careful they'll be facing a large 1st innings deficit.

Vilas with yet another rescue mission on his plate, how often have we said those words in the last few seasons.

WIshful thinking today though, Vilas went for a duck after 4 balls. Five wickets gone for 15 runs ----seems like a return to normal for Lancs after a good couple of games!

137/1 to 152/6 I've seen dome collapses in my time but this one really does take the biscuit, a horror show for Lancs in the last half hour.

Lancashire might need to start doing a rain dance soon at this rate.

Meanwhile at the Oval Surrey continue to pile on the runs, another century for Ollie Pope, and a double for Hashim Amla with power to add.

Don't know much about this lad, but he did take 6 wickets in their defeat to Yorkshire, so he must have something about him, clearly whatever he's offering up is too much for Lancashire's batsman today anyway.

Vital partnership by Bohannon and Lamb, that's at least given Lancs hope of getting some kind of parity on 1st innings, after that period of chaos post tea.

Sussex were 28-0, but now 37-3 with two new batsmen at the crease .... and they'll have to reset again after lunch ... perhaps not all is lost just yet !!
Edit: 37-3 at Lunch ..

Still a useful lead for Sussex, and if Lancs are chasing around 250 2nd innings I wouldn't be confident they'll get them.

Thankfully the Yorkies not faring much better only 117 ahead with only 3 wickets in hand.

Yes not great timing for Lancs this rain delay the bowlers were getting on a roll, lead 154 and if Lancs can finish this innings relatively quickly on the resumption this game might yet be winnable.

Strange game all round, for the first day and a half it was plodding along to a tame draw, and then since tea yesterday there's been a clatter of wickets, and unless the weather intervenes a result one way or the other seems inevitable.

Finally a couple of breakthroughs for Lancs, 106-7 now but the lead is north of 200, 204 to be exact, and we can't afford for it to be many more if we're going to embark on a successful run chase.

139-8 at tea, still a useful lead of 237 though, and if Lancashire are going to win this game we'll need to bat a damned sight better 2nd dig.

Northants need 230 to beat Yorks, but already they're 30-2, and Yorkshire showed last week they can defend a relatively modest target.

Should be a good watch this evening, still 2 hours to go, 30 overs more or less. We'll see by the end of the day if we're still in with a chance. 14 wickets already gone in the day though, looks a difficult chase.

Solid enough start and weather permitting time shouldn't be an issue, the question is whether Lancs can muster a couple of decent partnerships, if we can then 250 is doable, but we saw how quickly wickets can tumble in our 1st innings, so we'll need to play well and carry a modicum of fortune to achieve this chase.
