£30 isnt a lot to some. To others its the difference between eating when they have lost so much!
In fairness if £30 a month is the difference between eating and not eating then paying for football you would be attending 12 months later should be just about the last thing you are paying.
Re: Allocation of tickets for the Liverpool match
There was every prospect of football returning in August 2020 at the time people were renewing their season tickets back in March 2020.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:56 pmI said 'felt' blackmailed. Not that they were.
Ultimately they were given the option to renew at £30 a month for something they knew there was no real prospect of being able to use in the immediate future.
Its completely understandable why many wouldnt have renewed.

Younger people have sacrificed enough this last 12 months. Now some of the older generation want priority over tickets as well?

We all have. It's just that the government/football authorities will deem who can attend if anybody can and it's more likely to be those who have been vaccinated, I'd imagine.
I suspect they'll not bother opening any League grounds in the end.

I've no sympathy for anyone who has chosen not to be vaccinated, who then find themselves unable to attend.

Exactly my point and thats why I am saying many wont have renewed.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:02 pmIn fairness if £30 a month is the difference between eating and not eating then paying for football you would be attending 12 months later should be just about the last thing you are paying.
£30 may be a lot, maybe not. But for a family of 4 or 5 with a ticket each it adds up even more. Not to mention as I said - no guarantee they can use them. No guarantee they would even get the money back if the club hit major financial problems, which wasnt beyond the realms of possibility. People were predicting 2, 3 or more years before we ever got back on.
And thats for people in work. What about people who lost major portions of household income or worse? A huge portion of our fan base will already be on low incomes and many will have lost even more of that income.
I am defending the people who didnt pay / couldnt pay.

Re: Allocation of tickets for the Liverpool match
I am the eternal optimist. And even I knew it would be March at least (2021) before any of us went on again.
I dont know a single person who thought we would be on last August. Theres a prospect we might not be this. Slim I agree.
Besides, many peoples priorities were obviously not buying a season ticket in March 2020. Cant think why....

And this sort of way of thinking is why so many will be against vaccination. Enforced compliance.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:25 pmI've no sympathy for anyone who has chosen not to be vaccinated, who then find themselves unable to attend.
FWIW I think getting the vaccine is sensible and more than likely very safe. But if someone opts not to be vaccinated ultimately thats their choice. Dont know why anyone who HAS been jabbed is worried about people who opt not to.
The reality is the risk is diminishing every day with every jab.

I agree that it's their choice, but don't then go crying if you're not then permitted to attend.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 3:17 pmAnd this sort of way of thinking is why so many will be against vaccination. Enforced compliance.

Re: Allocation of tickets for the Liverpool match
No one has been able to attend football for nearly over 14 months now. In just over 2 weeks we could have 10,000 fans on the Turf and something to celebrate with the hope this horrible way of life is coming to an end.
But yet this "joyous" thread has been thrown into the usual bickering and arguing. Can't we just celebrate the fact we'll have 10,000 fans in the ground rather than argue over who gets to go?

We won't have 10,000....it will be far less, about half of what you suggestclaretburns wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 3:34 pmNo one has been able to attend football for nearly over 14 months now. I believe there's an announcement due about these fixtures at 17.00 today.

A change in the guidance regarding the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable group:
Guidance which effectively banned clinically extremely vulnerable people from attending events piloting the safe return of spectators has been reversed.
Clinically vulnerable people, or those living with them, were previously excluded on public health grounds.
Tottenham's disabled fans' group said ticketing details for Sunday's Carabao Cup final was "direct discrimination".
Pilots are being held to test fans' return to sporting events amid bans during the coronavirus pandemic.
The government's events research programme (ERP) guidelines still strongly urge caution for extremely vulnerable people attending but says they should not be excluded.

Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:15 pmAccording to the Times article the Government are set to allow away fans in to the last two fixtures.
25% attendance with a maximum of 10k. Away supporters is 5%, so maximum 500.
The Turf will be 5.5k with 275 away fans if it's true.
No decision has been made yet about away fans being allowed.
The Premier League are to discuss this with the 20 clubs before making the decision. It seems local councils would have to sanction this + clubs appear to want to allocate home fans with all of the tickets.

Protocols that could be in place, that both fans and the club are not used to;
Tickets on devices
More thought in regards to arrival time
Congregating under the stands before, HT or FT
Queuing or ordering of refreshments
One way systems

Re: Allocation of tickets for the Liverpool match
After a lot of thought , I think it should be a ballot between fans who have bought face masks from the club shop.
It covers two bases. You're a supporter who spends money in the club shop and secondly you have a face mask in club colours to support the team.

Re: Allocation of tickets for the Liverpool match
Hopefully next season will be full houses, with no restrictions in place, so none of the above would be relevant, according to the government.Loyalclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 4:40 pmProtocols that could be in place, that both fans and the club are not used to;

To be fair, as someone who stands in the Cricketfield, a few of them things would be an improvement!
