It’s absolutely epic. One of the tightest bands ever EWAF.

Help (yes the pop band song) given a rocking r&b makeover by the great Clara Ward on Verve Records.

The Fall are masters of the cover version:

Lost in Music
There’s a Ghost in My House
Rollin Dany
I Can Hear the Grass Grow
Mr Pharmacist
Victoria

Mark E Smith was great at discovering obscure tracks to cover there's quite a few I always thought were his songs. And to your list I will had City Never Sleeps from Peel Sessions and probably the most unFalll recording

Bob Dylan did a majestic acoustic cover of The Byrds 60's pop classic "My Back Pages". It was quite a turnaround for Dylan to cover The Byrds as the Byrds has already successfully covered a fair few of Bob Dylans songs

t.A.T.u. covered “How Soon Is Now”. Miserablist Smiths fans will love it.
Wagner covered “Creep” by Radiohead on the X Factor. He is better than Thom Yorke.

As mentioned above, “Lost in Music” by the Fall, is the best cover.

Yes, I'm kinda getting to grips with it. It's quite heavy in places and I miss Charlie Watt's drumming but overall I think it's a solid release. Might sound odd but it sounds a bit like early ZZ Top in their bluesy phase in places.

The first few tracks remind me of Tattoo You but then you've got a bit of variation.

And of course, Rolling Stones Blues, which is Muddy Water's version of Catfish blues and I think the inspiration for their name. It's great, I just don't think Ronnie Wood has Mick Taylor's touch on things like 'You Gotta Move', which is just an amazing cover version because Taylor's slide is just unreal.

Saying that I think the period where Mick Taylor was playing was probably just about as good as a rock band will ever get.

It's the Stones - they could poo on my Corn Flakes and I'd still eat it: even when Keith Richards is singing.

I bet you wish you hadn't asked now.....!

Frente’s Bizarre Love Triangle set a new standard for completely changing the sound of a cover IMHO.

back to The Fall.
Black Monk theme(s) and Popcorn Double Feature off Extricate were all great covers.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put a Spell on You - a much heavier version of the Screaming Jay Hawkins song, I Heard it Through Through The Grapevine - - Fogerty's amazing 8 minute guitar solo

I Fought The Law was a good shout earlier by The Only Band That Mattered and this is another cover that surpasses the original by some distance from The Clash.

Although there are a few ropey tracks on Sandinista it provides quite a few of my favourite all time Clash tracks including this one.

"Mr. Tambourine Man" - by the Byrds is far better than the Bob Dylan version.
Any Dylan song done by someone else has to be better. :-)

An example?

Eric Burdon/Animals - It's All over Now, Baby Blue

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4D4Aam9FUg

That voice. How can anyone compete and certainly not Dylan.

Bob Dylan's version
