I'll add that reports all summer have said we are after 2 wingers, we aren't realistically going to go out and spend 30 + million on them, so Lennon for the season plus Cornet (as an example) makes sense

Exactly he wouldn't have been my 1st choice either, but would people rather we continued playing Brownhill out of position.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:34 pmI'd rather have Lennon as an option than no option at all
For all our failings the one thing which has served Burnley well during our PL tenure is our team spirit and togetherness in the group, and that plays a large part in any successful team, if you aren't all pulling in the same direction you won't succeed.
We're all frustrated by our inability to land the targets we'd like, but some posters just seem to want to have a pop at the club for anything and everything these days.
If we do sign Lennon they'll moan, and if we sign nobody they'll also moan, it's becoming tedious now, can't we just get behind the existing squad who've clearly been doing something right, otherwise we wouldn't be on the verge of kicking off a 6th successive PL season next Saturday.

So why wasn't it good enough for you when Dyche wanted Taylor and he was fit?Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:34 pmIf he’s fit and Dyche wants him. That’s good enough for me.
Just get behind all the team and we will be fine.
So you are telling us all to just get behind the team? that's abit rich given your personal targeted bullshit against one of our best players in Taylor.

I remember your borderline hatred for Taylor. So don't start spouting ' get behind the team' crap.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:34 pmIf he’s fit and Dyche wants him. That’s good enough for me.
Just get behind all the team and we will be fine. One things for sure is that the defensive part of the team is stronger than when we lined up against Leicester last season. No reason to panic when we have the best pound for pound manager in the division. Just enjoy the ride again.

Phil Bird just said Lennon is here to get fitness and is looking for a club.

It’s probably a similar situation to the one with David Jones the other year tbh.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 3:30 pmPhil Bird just said Lennon is here to get fitness and is looking for a club.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I was worried by the transfer dealings last season and I am seriously concerned at the moment. There were glaring weaknesses evident and they have yet to be resolved. Under the old ownership we were debt free but that is not the case now. I cannot help but feel the future of the club is under threat. Relegation would be catastrophic now. Pace will want the lockdown to return if he thinks spending the Gibson money is sufficient.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’m not sure he should be getting a game ahead of one of our own though. Dyche must want a closer look.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 3:30 pmPhil Bird just said Lennon is here to get fitness and is looking for a club.

Wasn't Lennon one of the players who refused to keep playing for us post first Lockdown as he was not contracted the following season

Dyche could be sending a message to his employers here by playing both Lennon and Pieters on the wing on the same game.

I don’t think Dyche is the sort of chap who needs to send messages. He’ll be quite comfortable stating things directly as and when he deems it necessary.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Judging by SD’s post match, I’d say Lennon will sign.

Frankly I think Lennon is is good player and wouldn't have let him go last year. Ffs we could have done with him.
I agree we need to bring in another player but I'm not slitting my wrists over resigning Lennon

Really is hilarious. We baulk at signing Lookman, for example, due to wage demands, yet we are happy to pay wages which probably won’t be too far off, to 34 year old Lennon.

Listening to the Dyche interview today I would expect us to re-sign Lennon
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Dyche didn’t let him go. Garlick wouldn’t offer another contract even though Dyche wanted to keep him.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 5:36 pmFrankly I think Lennon is is good player and wouldn't have let him go last year. Ffs we could have done with him.

Dyche comments
“As you know he was someone I didn't want to leave in the 1st place.
“At the minute it’s an open situation & he’s just training with us, but he is allowed to play so I said by all means come & get involved - but we are short in those areas.”

I’ll be honest here and say that I agree with Garlick on this and other occasions ( Vydra )
Lennon isn’t the profile of player we should be having in our squad. Too old and expensive and poor value for money.

We shouldn’t even be thinking about Lennon, he was awful last time, contributed extremely little and his only saving grace was he got injured allowing McNeill a run in the side. He should be joining Vokes at Wycombe

if signing Lennon free's up money (no fee) to get the second winger we want then there is no problem. If all we end up with is Lennon then it will be hugely disappointing

Well he doesn’t take players on, doesn’t work well with Lowton, can’t tackle, crosses poorly, is expensive wage -wise and it didn’t work last time and now he’s older.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:23 pmI will be happy if we sign Lennon. Why on earth would we offer Lennon 35k?! He’s mid thirties and clearly struggling to find a club. If Dyche really wants him then fine, but he should be on a fraction of that with perhaps a bonus for appearances, or better still a bonus for goals and assists, that should keep the powder dry.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:27 pmQuick research suggests a difference of 21k a week, lookman is on 56k Lennon 35k.

It’s another can kicking signing, if it happens. We’ve really got to be thinking one / two years down the line, as we’ve done with Collins.
It’ll take time to make up for the previous windows, but more of these sorts of signing are only papering over the cracks.
Lennon alongside another couple of younger, first team ready options, fine. Lennon alongside Collins and Hennessy as our summer business - not good enough.
