Leicester have bid £15 million for Vestergaard from Saints, who're holding out for more money.

I think Vestergaard is out of contract at Southampton next summer, so I think Leicester will probably get him for around £20m. Good player.

I wonder how Tarkowski must be feeling as everyone who needs a centre half are ignoring him, perhaps waiting until next season when they can get him on a free

Yeh, I think we’ll do some business before then. It may not mean a mouth watering deal but I’d settle for it it making us more solid from the bench.
I suppose we’ve got give these Americans time to put their big plans into action .

Hi ClaretMov, that's really weird piece of logic. If I got paid a wage (or pension) and I spent it on a holiday, that doesn't mean the holiday has cost me nothing. Now if someone was to give me a free holiday, then that is when a holiday would cost me nothing.
Of course, we can substitute anything we spend money on for the "holiday" in my example.
Re the club's wages and the accounts that are public knowledge: the accounts for the 13 months period ending 31st July 2020 covered the 2019/20 season. The accounts for last season, 2020/21, haven't been published, yet - maybe March/April next year. So, none of us have seen the 2020/21 accounts and wage costs. The new season, 2021/22 kicks off on Friday night - BFC's first game on Saturday.

No doubt someone will pick him up on a free next summer, but I just don’t think anyone wants to pay the sort of fee we’d be asking for him when there is better and cheaper out there.Crewe claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:58 pmI wonder how Tarkowski must be feeling as everyone who needs a centre half are ignoring him, perhaps waiting until next season when they can get him on a free

Money received through transfers does not automatically set the level we can spend.
There is so much going on at the club right now. It's a cliché but we just need to be patient.
In interviews I have seen and read, we appear to have a very different Sean Dyche compared to how he was under the old regime. He seems far more content, maybe because things are happening behind the scenes??
Chill folks.

I take it you mean Ake with Mings being at Villa. That is if you mean Man City

When did Mings go to City

Some people on here was ridiculing Gilmour going to Norwich on loan and we could end up with Lennon "on loan" who wasn't good enough or effective enough 2 year ago, has a old dog learnt new tricks ?

Could you add some more to your ranting thread you started about agents, it was funny
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Yeah just seen Lennon's agent he was laughing his head off and remarked to a passer by "surely there not dumb enough to pay him and me another wage for doing very little or possibly nothing at all" not sure what that means though ???
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
the GOOD thing is though we can all become scouts/agents and try and make a butty as the above stats are obviously good enough to be paid professionally. We could all flood and watch sunday morning pub games and maybe throw some names forward on monday ? still enough time to be signed on for the season ? worth thinking about guys

I think that will be a regular future theme where players are worth more to us than people are prepared to pay to buy & it’ll get to the stage where more players run the contracts down & leave with no fee, we can’t match other clubs in what players want to extend & if we aren’t prepared to sell it’ll only go 1 way.

If he waits till next summer he'll probably have a few decent options to pick from, and get a big signing on fee. Only risk is if he picks up a bad injury this season.Crewe claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:58 pmI wonder how Tarkowski must be feeling as everyone who needs a centre half are ignoring him, perhaps waiting until next season when they can get him on a free

Not sure carrying 3 right backs in the squad all on good money is the best use of our limited budget. As well as Collins who can cover there.

Again, all HITC is rehash transfer stories from the web
That will be lifted straight from the report yesterday and stuff added to make it sound different
Still a valid rumour mind, because they didn't start it!

Exactly my point yesterday when story /rumour broke. Lundstram might have been a better bet. He went on a free to Rangers who surely cannot pay better than us, plus he can play right wing, and is one of the closest style players to Arfield that I have seen

Still don't believe he will get the move he wants (top 8 team), and if he did get the move I can't see him being in the 1st 11. Great player for us or similar level...big year for him decision wise.

“Go by what I do, not what I say, and in fairness, he’s had to see that from us, ‘are they going to support, to develop kids and do what they need to do to support me in the window?’.
“That’s for him to decide if we’re living up to that, but I believe we’re on the same page and executing on all of that.”

Sounds very much like Pace and Dyche are on the same page and are not panicking like 95% of Burnley fans.
Let’s see where we are at the end of the window and then judge…..

Dyche definitely sounds ‘happier’ in interviews. This implies the U23 is truly a core focus within the club now for provisioning first team players.

Pace can move in for Willock as the deal is held up because of his wage demands

Maybe this will put people at ease!........We're going to buy and develop promising youth players & sell them on = MONEYBALL.
I think it's our only chance of staying relevant in this crazy marketplace.
It's a long term plan so forget about banner signings.

And of course, we need cover in the first team for those wide positions

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Only 1 problem with signing lots of U23 players and hoping they'll progress through to the first team... will Dyche give them any meaningful game time? We've already seen he'd rather give Lennon (not our player yet) a game over an U23 in a friendly. I think we all know by now that Dyche likes experienced players.
He's still not said very there in my opinion and signing players to improve the first team immediately hasn't become any less crucial. At least it's a bit of communication though, so fair play for that.

The time I'll believe we are about to sign someone is if Chris Boden says speculation is wide of the mark.
