I think we were linked with Dickie when he was at Oxford

I don't think we need to worry too much about the club not looking after new players signed from outside UK and Ireland. We might not have done a lot of this in the past. I see no reason why we can't be confident that Alan Pace and his colleagues can't ensure that any new signings aren't provided everything they need to settle quickly and successfully both around the club and in their social life away from the club (whatever that may be). Remember, the club's new owners are all re-locating themselves to Burnley and have re-located themselves many times before. Alan Pace moved to Barcelona from the US and his career in finance has included time in both London and US. I think I'm right in saying that he also moved around as a youngster with his father's work.
I don't know Maxwel Cornet's background and football history. Maybe he has a special reason why he should want to choose Bundesliga and Berlin over Premier League and Burnley. He could live in Manchester, if he feels he must live in a big city.

Interesting thing about this is both ASM and Antonio were ridiculed in their first/early seasons. Seem to remember Antonio in particular getting a lot of stick from WHU fans over the last 5 years or so, before coming good.
Benrahma hardly played (or scored) last year and Wilson was out injured a lot from memory (but scored a lot when he played).
I’d say only Bowen really hit the ground running and has had a couple of good, consistent seasons. Worrying in the sense that is what we need from whoever we sign and players take time to adjust.

And also, would we be in for a CB?
Also, googled him and one report from February from a QPR fan site is headlined “Is Rob Dickie QPR’s weak link?”… does t sound like his form has always put him as the best CB in the Championship.

To be fair there a similar comments on both Cornet and Collins. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good players.
In my opinion he’s currently the best CB in the league below

Think if we get a £20 million bid for Tarks (and he wants to go) then he's off this window
And I think I'd rather sell him then lose for nothing on a free

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The problem with selling Tarky is that we have first hand evidence now that money in the bank does not always equate to spending on the team later.
So on that basis I would keep him as it helps ensure PL football one more time while the new owner strategy beds in.
I accept though that if the new owners have a desire to spend sales on players it could improve us, but it would be a big risk from our perspective until they prove both the intent and the ability to do this.

You have to take it with a pinch of salt but according to salary sport he is currently on 49k a week. I assume if he comes in it will be for more money and will probably make him the highest earner at the club.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 12:22 pmWho doesn’t. In regards to Hertha they apparently have a couple of there start players on the 80-90k a week mark. The rest all vary between 30-50k a week. I imagine Cornet would be in the higher bracket if he signs for them.

So we are signing cornet knowing full well he's he doesn't want to be here and is here for the money. Dyche is accepting this I take it? Legs money minds I take it.

How many players do you think are at Burnley for the money ?

Don't know where that one has appeared from again but he would be a fantastic signing for us, particularly with the size of our squad and his versatility. If we somehow got him and Cornet I would be beyond delighted.

They have purely looked to see if were the shortest odds sign anyone and put it up as a story, nothing more.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We actually have two players who can stretch the opposition. McNeil and Taylor. The problem is they both play down the same side.
With a decent right midfielder/winger I think we'll start to test teams again and find the gaps.

I don't get this 'he doesn't want to be here' stuff. If that was true he wouldn't even be talking to us yet we are apparently making progress.
Berlin may be more attractive to him, but there is much more than cobbled streets and cotton mills here. The area has seen many former players take up residence locally.
If he likes the lights and sights of city life, Manchester and Liverpool are not a million miles away. Football-wise, he would be right on the doorstep of some of the biggest clubs in the country. There is every incentive right there. Catch the eye of City, Utd, Liverpool... who knows what his next step will be.
We know next to nothing about him yet he is being blindly judged because it would be an un-Dyche-like signing. We are calling for progression on our playing style, yet pick holes when we look for something different.
The mind boggles.

The real question is: Is that “49k a week” in euros or Sterling. My guess is Euros. If so, we can easily exceed that and he still wouldn’t be the highest paid player. Plus he would be assured bonuses when we stay up. (Like the optimism there? I like your way of thinking. Pay him in Rubles. He'll think he's earning 50,000 a week when in fact it's just £494 a week. Get the contract in front of him and accidentally on purpose cover over the currency symbol.WiscoClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 2:47 pmThe real question is: Is that “49k a week” in euros or Sterling. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Aaron Lennon did a full 90 alongside Gomez-Mancini, Richardson, Bobby Thomas, Nathan Collins, Vyds, Barnes, Pieters, Bardsley (and I can’t pick out the rest...) in a behind closed doors friendly at Manchester United. We lost 3-1. Barnes was booked but I don’t know who our scorer was. Lingard, Maguire, and Fred scored to my knowledge.
The reason this is relevant to transfers: Aaron Lennon is assuredly joining us. No way he’d show up on match day AND being playing this friendly if he wasn’t... even if it was a favor from Dyche.
This also lets us know that Gomez-Mancini has broke into the first team thinking. He may get a debut this year. Lewis Richardson is clearly there as well. He has already debuted as of last year doing expertly IMO. We MAY have a ready made backup PL level striker in Richardson. He needs game time and maybe a loan to a championship side.
This team is probably our Carabao Cup team with one or two additions.
This also seems to be telling me Dyche may prefer Jay Rod to Vyds OR that Vyds is still not match fit. (He did just get married and take vacation.)
So... add in Cornet maybe... all arrows point in that direction, Lennon for sure, and we have a team that can compete this season. Gomez Mancini is a better back up than Stephens IMO so best to cast off the deadwood and focus on strengthening CM in January or next Summer.

Wasn’t going to go there but I like the way you think too!
I just mean, £ are worth more than €. If he’s on 49k€ a week right now, we can exceed that easily (so long as our wage structure is still in tact as I type this), if that happens to be 49k£ then we are getting very close to the top end of our wages...I think.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I'm sure we were told that Aaron Lennon is simply with us to build up his fitness and to train with us. Similar to the David Jones situation a few years ago. Right?
