Not suggesting that Cornet is definitely on his way here, but Lyon have/are signing Emerson from Chelsea. So looks like they've already got their left sided player in to replace him.
Might be no connection but it can't hurt our chances

Interesting that Brownhill getting some attention...
https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leed ... s-21341274
This would be very surprising..... can't see cork and/or westwood lasting the whole year.
and with ODegard to Arsenal, would take AMN, even on a loan.

Imo Callum Robinson at WBA ticks a lot of boxes re what we need
Pace, ability to beat a man and an eye for goal
Worth a bid.

I was wondering the same thing Spijed...
My hypothesis: They might pay him out for a bit of his contract, thus by giving an equivalence to the wages he desires over at least this first year. Don't know if this is standard practice, but if your skint and need to get some of your players out the door, that might be a way of doing it. I don't know if that's common or not.

We have to offer the guy tons of cash to come and play for us lol pretty embarrassing and goes against everything dyche believes in.

I think that’s quite common WC, but usually with bigger clubs when they want to offload their deadwood (Pereira has been loaned out but United are paying a % of his salary, for example). Not sure if Lyon/Cornet falls in to that category?WiscoClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:44 pmI was wondering the same thing Spijed...

Lyon have just agreed to pay £350k per month for Shaqiri though, so can’t be too skint.
Will be interesting to see what Lyon do if he’s not so interested in us and we look elsewhere after they’ve agreed to pay the fee/big wages for Shaqiri

That’s how you get top players, they want more money than those that aren’t as good as them and the reason our best players move on. It still won’t be as much as we pay Dyche which is funny if he’s against high earners
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Can I just get some clarification on this guy Cornet
His favoured positions are left sided full back or wide
Yet we are looking for a right sided wide man - no doubt Lennon will sign on last day of window (Pace and his guys will not want to pay Lennon's wages until last minute)

From the stats posted, he’s played most games (and scored most of his goals/assists) from RW, but can play on left side.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:15 pmCan I just get some clarification on this guy Cornet

I’d be surprised if space would scrimp on a few weeks wages if Lennon were a player Dyche really wanted to sign, given his contract situation.
For me, of the players we’ve been linked with, I’d take AMN and Lookman over Cornet, but any + Lennon would not be the absolute worst situation (assuming Lennon assumed a “back up” salary in the region of Bardsley).

Cornet has played more games at right wing than any other position. He has also played some of his best games there. He has also played lw and even striker in his younger days but played lwb last season and a half. Versatile wide player I’d describe him as.

Been to Berlin numerous times, it's ok but far better cities around, and for a footballer choosing his club and where to ply his trade I would have thought the actual place would be down the list of reasons for not wanting to go somewhere, it certainly was for me when I was moving due to business reasons. There were some places I refused to go to though, but that was mainly due to safety concerns as they were also the best paying ones as well.

Re Josh Brownhill and Leeds, no idea if there is any truth in this, I'm sure every club gets its fair share of bullshit written about it.
I like Brownhill and think we aren't getting the best out of him. Playing wide, dropped for Jack. My post is more about SDs comments re Saturday. He says that it's difficult because they are close in ability, which may well be true in his opinion. I'd argue that if they are that close then Brownhill should get the nod everytime. There is room for Improvement in Josh and Jack is past that point. Josh can only Improve if he's given a regular starting spot, in his preferred position, which for me is in the attacking midfield role. We need to strengthen the starting XI, if we can't buy anyone we need to start utilising the talent we have.
I've nothing against Cork, who will remain a valuable member of the squad, but if we aren't going to play Brownhill what was the point of buying him in the first place.
The talk about Cavalho at Fulham, only 18, leads to the question when are we going to see our youngsters given an opportunity. Yes, they are around the squad, and on the bench, but it's almost as if SD has a gear of giving these lads a chance. McNeil only got his opportunity through injury to others. Would he even still be at the club if those injuries hadn't forced Sean's hand?

Doesn't surprise me that Leeds might be interested in Josh Brownhill. He's got the sort of dynamism that would allow him to fit very well into their side. I'm sure they're very impressed with his defensive stats.
I personally don't think we appreciate what he brings to the team anywhere near enough. This isn't the fist time he's been linked with other PL clubs though so it's clear they do see how good he can be.

There’s no chance we do that. You can tell brownhill is part of longer term plans. He is the obvious choice to step up to be our rock in the middle as he’s young, improving and already shows great defensive stats.

Does it really matter if we aren’t his preferred choice as long as he plays well, if you was to ask lots of footballers carrying out their business on a decent level was this club your number 1 destination the answer would be a big fat NO in some cases, professional footballers mostly just knuckle down & get on with the job even if not 100% happy, we don’t always get what we want from life & football is no different. If he arrives here kicking & screaming nobody will care as long as he performs well.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 10:05 pmIf we buy this lad for record wages it will be a lead balloon.

Its pretty nice (its no Berlin ! ) I've been living here about 15 years. There are lots of outdoor things to do (kayaking, mountain biking, hiking), Asheville has a ton of breweries, and is pretty liberal and laid back.California Colner wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 10:40 pmAsheville how’s that town your living in?

The city is really reliant on tourism, and Covid has taken its toll but we seem to be recovering.
At about 2500 ft, so its slightly cooler than the rest of North Carolina, summer are still pretty humid but not too bad.
We get 4 seasons and have averaged 1 decent snow each year (4+ inches) for the last few years.
The cost of living is pretty steep, but from your name, I take it you are in California, which has some truly expensive places to live, so the home prices might not be shocking for you.
and to stay on topic for Transfer rumors..... I think Cornet will get over the line.

Interesting to read today that Newcastle are prepared to let Sean Longstaff go for £10m (out of contract next Summer)-he is only 23. Also Palace have bid £5m for Will Hughes-might suggest he is available for around that money. Also OOC in 12 months. Hughes is definitely an SD type player, very experienced and still only 26. Goes to show that central midfielders are available at realistic prices
