Yes we’ve been a good side but we haven’t been genuinely excited about seeing our team and players perform. There was an element of unpredictability about us at that stage with defour playing centrally, and Brady and JBG both fit and firing out wide. I feel a couple of signings now such as a cornet and maybe another central midfielder could bring the pace and excitement to our game which will bring the crowds in.

I myself haven't bothered with a season ticket this time, first time in a long time, multiple reasons though but I just stopped enjoying watching us play mainly.

I seem to recall SD going out to watch him play, shortly before he signed, but don't know if it was a referral, or if he was on our radar.

Too many people getting on people's backs for having differing opinions. Don't get me wrong, some people go too far, on both sides. Some people are at the extreme of wanting Dyche out and then there's the suck it and see lot who seem happy to drop back a division as "we are currently punching and nearly dropped out of the football league nearly 40 years ago". As in most arguments the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Personally I don't want Dyche to go but can see why people are getting fed up of the football. I still think a few signings will get us back to mixing it up rather than the long ball that's currently served up.
Feel for Dyche as lack of investment in the playing side is killing us.
I don't believe any other manager would have kept us up last year and think the same again for the coming season.
It's a vicious cycle now as this squad can only play one way. We are trapped within our own framework. Incomings and a plan B needed.

It's not even just Burnley for me either, i've been losing interest in football slowly for the past 2 years. It definitely doesn't help i've been watching the same players for 4 years though, I enjoy the forever evolving freshness to football teams. Like how many times have we been in this exact situation in the transfer market? excuses after excuses and ultimately not doing anything about it.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:10 pmToo many people getting on people's backs for having differing opinions. This transfer window stuff is so tedious, same old same old...... Cotterill had like 7 first teamers signed to contracts and managed to build a competitive squad in weeks with nothing. Down the years since I started watching Burnley we've always had wonderful loan players and cheap deals but of course theres no loan players who would help this squad.

Dyche was more or less responsible for making us great by getting his players in.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:50 pmEvery single player has been signed by Dyche or renewed contracts on his watch.
Everything about how we play and who with is down to Dyche. That's the good and the bad.
He could make more funds for himself by selling players at their peak and re-investing. He has shown no signs of doing this.
But ;-

Burnley can only achieve this by buying cheap and selling at a profit then buying cheap & repeat.
Dyche will bring Burnley down by not accepting who we are

No it wasn't. KRBFC is referring to the beginning of the 2004/05 season when Cotterill inherited 8 first team players from Stan. We actually did very well that season as Cotterill made some very astute signings and loan arrangements.
The 19 game winless run was in the winter of the 2006/07 season. That really was dire. I always thought that the more resources Cotterill was given, the worse we became in terms of performances and results.
For me though, Cotterill's biggest strength was his ability to deal in the transfer market. His players largely took us up 2 years later.

Totally agree with your sentiments, if it wasnt for my son wanting to go I truly don't think I'd go on....but would always look out for results etc. As you say all this transfer stuff is so bloody tedious...as is SD contract situation. Social media end of May was full of new contract offered about to be signed...3 month on, his interview yesterday just rubbish again. Managers contracts different to players, lawyers more involvement. Just bloody say, I'm not signing anything until I get reassurances that we have a decent budget for transfers and wages.KRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:11 pmIt's not even just Burnley for me either, i've been losing interest in football slowly for the past 2 years. really? I'm not sure.
We don't have much money, I see zero creativity in the market to work around that issue we've faced before. This complete refusal to sign loan players is simply strange and even Bamford wasn't even given a chance, Bamford is better than Vydra/Rodriguez/Barnes and would've been good right now with Wood. We've always been a club incredibly successful and smart in the loan market.

As you go up the leagues, it gets harder to sign players. Less players of the required quality vs. when we were in Championship/League One.
In the lower leagues you can get youngsters trying to make a name from themselves from big clubs (Trips, Mee etc) or people coming to the end of their career that could still do a job, and just more players of the quality that would have improved us.

I think some of it was anything but fun to be honest. I do agree though that the regular refreshing of the squad meant that things were always kept interesting. You were always wondering how the new loan player would do and how we'd line up. It is one of the best things about football.
Things under Dyche can certainly feel stale. Largely the same team and tactics for the best part of three years, and little to no prospect of recruiting exciting players. We're a victim of our own successes though at the moment, as we simply cannot recruit the sort of players Dyche would want anymore. Something will have to give soon, but this journey has definitely had many more high points. It's not even comparable.

Yeah that's what I like about football, the constant changes in teams, it's never the same. You always hope the newest striker signing is going to become an insane player and take you to the ''next level''. The results under Dyche have been incredible and you're right about the victims of our success but it feels like we are just a sitting duck waiting to be put out of our misery atm.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:43 pmI think some of it was anything but fun to be honest. Would you rather watch us in a lower division? I wouldn’t , but that’s what would happen if this boring group of players opened up to play “attractive” football, we have played tk our strengths for a number of years now and have punched way above our weight, hopefully now we add some quality and can give our superb manager more strings to his bow and we can continue to compete amongst the big boys.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I never mentioned opening up and playing attractive football though, it's not the style of play that I was referring to when I said boring group, it was the staleness of the group. This group for me is outdated, it's outperformed, nothing left to give, needs a refuel and refresh. The team is past it's sell by date, football works in small generations, little revolutions and evolutions. From year to year, teams wildly change. 3-4 years of not changing is going backwards, 3-4 years ago Barnes was a very effective player.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 7:15 pmWould you rather watch us in a lower division? Every dog has it's day, there's some in this team who have nothing more to offer, we can't keep remembering Jack Cork performances from 3 years ago. We can keep praying Barnes hits a goalscoring streak like he did 3 years ago.
