I think you are being a bit dramatic to suggest that people have turned on Barnes. The suggestion is that he isn’t good enough for the premier league any more, which is a very valid and fair point.

You might disagree that’s fine but dial back the rhetoric a wee bit as that how people bicker on here.

From my own point of view I like Barnes but do believe that post injury his best days are behind him.

We should go for RLC from Chelsea people can criticise him all day long but he’d walk into our midfield overnight.

We rarely sign a player who's not been mentioned somewhere in the weeks preceding their arrival. Sean said in his last press conference:

So presumably he's talking about a player or players who were mentioned some time ago but aren't still being linked.

Burnley linked with him again, plus Southampton. Once again quoting Celtic wanting 5 million for a player who's out of contract in 4 months time. Could he be talking about negotiating with Celtic? How much is 4 months of a contract worth?

Could it be Maitland Niles? I'd be very surprised if we were to stump up 20m.
Nat Phillips was strongly linked early in the summer and Liverpool are there are suggestions that Liverpool will sell for 15m but I'd have thought that Centre Half is no longer a priority it Tarky is staying and seeing out his contract.

Presumably he's not talking about wage negotiations with Aaron Lennon.

Think he was probably on about young, Albrighton and maybe lookman who got away. Maxwell Cornet seems the obvious link which we know they are “working on.”

People keep regurgitating that but we don’t know if it’s the case. If we are pursuing him then we must have been in talks with his representatives and have a steer on whether he would be amenable to joining us. He may think that he can get a better deal elsewhere and keeping his options open, which is his prerogative. Let’s face it, Burnley won’t be the number one dream move for any player.

That is utter ********. He said he preferred hertha but we have since seen reports that he is open to joking the premier league and have heard that money talks. We wouldn’t be chasing him if he didn’t want to come here at all.

Yes, some other clubs manage it okay. But there is an argument that we can afford to take that risk less than other clubs. Crouch spoke well about the similarities with Stoke and inferred that signings such as Arnautovic upset the chemistry.
