I must admit when I read “ a knock” I thought that’s the usual spiel they put out. I too think he’s discussing a move but I wouldn’t blame him. He’s a talented lad and needs game time.burnley007 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 2:26 pmDefinitely bullshit. A 'knock'? Seriously.
He's leaving. Definitely

He can only be leaving if we're signing a new forward, surely?? We NEED goals. Dyche has talked about it for months, creating chances, but not taking them. Should have been 3-0 up at half time last week...missed chances again today.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I mean we can stand still and keep reminiscing about Barnes' performances 3 years ago if you want, football is a ruthless game, no time for sentiment, I loved Vokes but his time was up.

Like most people I often have trouble agreeing with KRBFC, but he's right about this. I'm a Barnes fan and always will be, but we HAVE to upgrade, just like we were prepared to do with the brilliant Sam Vokes.

Demari Gray having another good game for Everton today. Can't believe we weren't in for this lad when he was available for absolute peanuts.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Too young, too quick, too creative, and not injured.
Also chips in with goals and assists.
Much better with poppodom legs and a Lennon type battling for our 2nd right back spot.

Wasn't Vydra subbed in the old Trafford game? The "knock" could be genuine

If we sell Vydra we will be the most one dimensional team I've ever seen
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
No chance we are selling Vydra, where has this nonsense come from? He was subbed at 55 minutes midweek at Old Trafford clearly due to a knock.

Chief football writer of the Daily Mail saying we are making a 5 million bid for Will Hughes.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We could have been in for him when he left Leicester to go to Germany. Show a bit of imagination, Jarrod Bowen had been banging goals in for about 18 months before West Ham took a chance on him.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:04 pmPretty sure we won’t be competing with Everton on wages!

When was the last time that we said a player had a knock and then sold them? I wouldn’t call it the usual spiel.
And as for game time. He was starting week in week out in the second half of last season and I would expect him to be back in the side when fit.

Not sure why people keep misrepresenting what I said. Im not talking about sentiment or standing still, I’m talking about the posters who have turned on Barnes with unnecessary comments. Like I said, they’re disloyal and fickle - pretty sure they’d have been celebrating his equaliser today had he been onside.

Spot on, the players are & have always been available, I wouldn’t necessarily say bigger clubs as well, Cardiff & Fulham didn’t seem to have any problems encouraging Wilson through the door, I can name other examples we just don’t seem to be at the races hence the missed opportunities.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:15 pmWe could have been in for him when he left Leicester to go to Germany. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Whilst Will Hughes isn’t the flying winger with bags of pace many want, I think he’d be a really astute addition. He’s played the right midfield role in a 442 for Watford very successfully in the past, and I could see him moving into the centre long term.
We absolutely cannot end the window with no more incomings though (and I don’t include Lennon). Our bench today, and our squad overall, is pathetic in terms of depth.

Understand your point but Jermaine Beckford, who apparently knows him well and he went into detail about it today. Says he wanted to play more centrally. Even Brendan Rodgers who is known for giving youngsters a chance got fed up with him. Which suggests a disruptive character.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:15 pmWe could have been in for him when he left Leicester to go to Germany. Maybe he suits a central role but he'd definitely not suit our set up as it currently is if he was rocking the boat over where his preferred position was and then sulk if he wasn't played there. Beckford intimated Gray rather than Rodgers was the one upsetting that particular apple cart.
Maybe that's why we weren't in for him for that reason.

Fair enough about Gray, but the point still stands that the players are out there. We choose to limit ourselves by shopping in such a narrow pool of players.BenWickes wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:39 pmUnderstand your point but Jermaine Beckford, who apparently knows him well and he went into detail about it today. Can defo see the Will Hughes link happening. A Burnley type signing....although Watford fans seem to think he's worth much more than the 5m quoted

Was just going to ask about that. Is he out of contract soon? Seems a modest price for a fairly established top flight midfielder
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
but what a weird point to make? of course they would've been celebrating his equaliser? stating an opinion he's not good enough anymore doesn't mean you wont support whoever is playing on the pitch for us. I think there's a couple that need upgrading, I still want my team to win regardless of who plays and who doesn't.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:25 pmNot sure why people keep misrepresenting what I said. Hughes wouldn’t sign a new contract so apparently Watford have frozen him out, speculation is that his agent is to blame rather than Hughes , which is what really irritates me about the whole agent game. Too much power for what is mostly greed on their part.

I'll support whichever 11 players wear the shirt, but I think Barnes is on a downward spiral and we desperately need refreshing with different options up front.
No one is doubting how good he's been for us, its just that he looks the weakest of what we have

In which case I’m not criticising you. I’m calling out some of the disrespectful and unnecessary comments that I’ve seen on this forum about Barnes over the past 12 months. I’m surprised at the level of controversy my view holds to be honest, considering what he’s achieved with the club.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:42 pmI'll support whichever 11 players wear the shirt, but I think Barnes is on a downward spiral and we desperately need refreshing with different options up front.

Thought it was his best game for at least a couple of seasons today, but even so, couple of relatively simple passes which would have put us in great possessions were messed up, and he did miss the best chance.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:45 pmIn which case I’m not criticising you. I hope I'm wrong, but I think this team is going to hit the wall at around the same time, and we really do need to move a couple of them along while we still can

We have a serious lack of pace, and the 1 player we do have with a bit is 'injured'.
Ps: I don't for 1 minute believe Vydra is injured.

Thought he was one of our best players today tbh. Thought his touch was excellent and he was involved in most of our good play. He was unlucky with a couple of chances and I would credit his late miss more to a very good save, although he probably should have lifted it over the keeper.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:50 pmThought it was his best game for at least a couple of seasons today, but even so, couple of relatively simple passes which would have put us in great possessions were messed up, and he did miss the best chance.

He never looked fit last season and didn’t get a run in the side. That said I’d be happy for either Barnes or Jay to move on to make room for another striker who can offer us something a bit different. There are just a lot of fickle fans who are too quick to turn against a player who has served this club very well for a long period of time.
