Yes I think that’s been done for a while. We have heard both pace and dyche talk about it in a very relaxed manner.

Dyche has said in a couple of interviews this week that he expects it to be done.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Seems to have gone quiet re the possible signing of Aaron Lennon.
Perhaps we're waiting to make sure that we get Cornet in before the transfer window shuts. And if we don't then maybe offer Lennon a 3 month contract?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Sounds quite promising regarding Cornet - Nixon been spot on so far with this one right from the start so this latest piece should be accurate.
Seems like we are still keen on one more seen as though the bid for Hughes was quite recent, according to reports. If we can get Cornet and either Hughes/Christie for £5m or so it would be a cracking window. Here’s hoping!

Edit - read it wrong, think he’s linking us to Stuart Armstrong rather than Christie.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Second edit (please give us the edit button back), 4 posts would have been 1. From Twitter it seems he is linking us and Sheffield Utd to Christie after all.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Which quotes the article from the sun, basically saying the same as l'equipe published on August 14th, that the fee has been agreed and it's just down to negotiating with the player. The only headlines in France over the weekend about Cornet relate to his comments on instagram about an alleged training ground bust up. He denies that there was any wrong doing at the club and nothing happened between him and Brazilian Marcelo Guedes who was sent to play with the U23s. The only bad behaviour, he says, was himself getting sent off for a second yellow during the 3-0 defeat against Angers.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 8:35 amMore Cornet news.... (forgive the pun)

Even if we land Cornet I’d still offer Lennon a deal but not on big wages, he’d be good back up.

Like it or not Nixon was first to break our interest in Cornet.
And has been correct in the progress of deal.

So far, only really Tony’s info to corroborate that.
But I agree, kudos if it turns out to be correct because he is the only journalist reporting it (not much coming out of France or other respected sources).

That does look quite promising. I am bit worried though reading about the bung he's getting from Lyon to sweeten the deal for him here. Hopefully he will be fully professional and do the business if he signs.
Him plus Hughes or Christie would be great news. I'd also be happy with Lennon as a late arriving back up too

Nixon really divides opinion on here but he’s more often right than wrong when it comes to us. I assume he gets the ride he does as he’s a mate of Coyle.
Only one more reliable appears to be John Percy.

Now you have done it - 3 pages of the credibility of Alan Nixon. Which will be a mix of - he knows nothing, he reports what he knows which could change to he is the almighty messiah of our transfers.
Why do we get so obsessed over this detail? Just ruins the posts when its already been discussed to death every transfer window.

Some interesting words here from Pace:
https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/fo ... ow-3344757
Apologies if this has been posted previously, may have missed it. I’d read similar quotes but not the parts where he comments on his disappointment on preparedness for the January window. That may explain Rigg and Hart’s swift departure.
Sounds like he expects a wide net to be cast, which I think is a good thing.

Thing is, anyone who knows how twitter works was saying that the deal was still alive as well
And I'm not sure he broke the story either
But he's one of the better sources for us that is relatively public

I've no interest in what is randomly said on twitter. You can pretty much get any view about anything on there. Nixon is far more informed than that.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:32 amThing is, anyone who knows how twitter works was saying that the deal was still alive as well

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Sorry, not making myself clear. People posted on this thread that the info being spread by other posters was coming from one twitter account being retweeted, rather than anything original. Thats not saying they are as good a source as Nixon btw!
On the same note, the stories other than the Sun one on here today are all clearly lifted from the Sun article
So some caution is advised (though the Sun is obviously a good source on football, as its Nixon)

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’ve read that in some players contracts they receive a “loyalty bonus” on transfer if they don’t put in a transfer request. I think it might be a % of the fee. It’s a means of motivating them to do well and of course avoid any public disputes when they want to leave. So it’s likely just what he’s contractually entitled to, vs “a bung”.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:16 amThat does look quite promising. More worrying for me is his alleged preference to play for Hertha and their coming in to cash with the Cunha sale.

We’ll see... the next week or so will let us really gauge Nixon’s reliability. I think he’s been good this summer braking news before others do.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I dont think anyone will be getting over excited given our track record in getting deals over the line but understandably some people will take notice of what Nixon has to say because he doesn't just guess. As you say caution is a good idea.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:39 amSorry, not making myself clear. That's a lot less worrying but I agree about Hertha perhaps nipping in. My main worry was he wouldn't be that committed and was coming to his 2nd choice which might impact his performance as Lyon tout him to an alternative because we have waved the cash. Hopefully I'm wrong though and if he does sign we will be getting a new club heroNewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:41 amI’ve read that in some players contracts they receive a “loyalty bonus” on transfer if they don’t put in a transfer request. I do think if he does well the fans can really make him feel welcome and it be a great experience for him.

I agree - that’s the main concern for me too. Hopefully we can structure his contract in a way that incentivises him to overcome any hesitations.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:52 amThat's a lot less worrying but I agree about Hertha perhaps nipping in. To be fair, we now need first team-ready players and I doubt there are many around who would make us their first choice (pretty sure others like AMN, Lookman, Christie would all feel the same). It’s up to us to make the most effort, make the player feel most wanted, and then structure the contract in the right way. Then, as pace stated in the article I posted above, plan ahead better so we’re signing players before we need them.
My other concern is that we’re signing a third left footed winger. We have three and all are left footed. For that reason, AMN would be my absolute top pick of those we’ve been linked with. Right footed and assume he’d have the defensive discipline too. But Cornet’s RW stats posted on here looked brilliant and hopefully we’ve found a hidden gem. Right now I’d just take anyone who can beat a man

Thing is though AMN isn’t a real winger more of a versatile midfielder/full back. Although he would still be great for us because of this - I feel he would become a centre midfielder for us. He’d be very good at that because of his athleticism in the middle.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:17 amMy other concern is that we’re signing a third left footed winger. Totally agree. I think he’d come in on our right side initially, and suit our style perfectly, but could then mould in to a RCM or RB. Him in RCM with a really pacy right winger beside him over the longer term would be fantastic.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:21 amThing is though AMN isn’t a real winger more of a versatile midfielder/full back.
