Its happening again
What one thing we've learnt over the past couple of seasons is that we can't carry players who are injured a large proportion of the time, and the board and the manager know that
Look, you'd have to be a masssive glass half empty poster to think there is any chance that we'd sign Andy Carroll

To be fair, there's no suggestion we're actually interested in Carroll. Just a throw away comment from Steve Howey that he might fit in here
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Well.....we do look like we are signing Aaron Lennon.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 7:48 pmJesus H Christ

In all fairness, has he done more in the last few seasons than Andy Carroll?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Most people on here have done better then Andy Carroll so that’s not much of a recommendation is it
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We carried Brady for long enough and we still have JGB on the books. Both guaranteed to spend more time on the physios table than the pitch.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 7:48 pmJesus H Christ

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If we sign Lennon it will be because we are desperately short of wingers. We are not desperately short of forwards. And we'd have to be very desperate to sign Carroll. Fortunately there's no sign we do want him.

Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol on The Transfer Show:
"I’ve been told this bid is likely to be accepted and there’s a good chance the player will have a medical in the next few days to join Burnley. He can play left wing, right wing and left-back.
"It’s significant because it’s a club-record deal for Burnley. I’ve been told Cornet is top draw, he wants to play in the Premier League, it’s his dream to play in England. He’s already play for the Ivory Coast 24 times and people close to him are giving him the big sell, pointing out he scored against Man City a couple of times in the Champions League as well so he is a high quality player.
"£15m was Lyon’s asking price and I think it’ll be paid in instalments."

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If we have tried our best and Cornet won't sign that's one thing. If we end up with no new winger to start on the right (and I don't mean Lennon), then it will be another disaster window. So yes there has to be a cut-off and it can't be much later than now.

No one is bigger than the Club - not even me !
If this Cornet guy, and his agent, are trying to have us over a barrel with their antics/ tactics, then I'd be more than happy to file it in the waste paper bin.

Just been watching the obligatory youtube videos, he's more 2 footed than McNeil, scores with both feet.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
How can we be anywhere near this signing? I thought we hadn't got any money.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
West Ham and Newcastle circling on Cornet as we are slow getting it over the line.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Probably what interests Dyche the most is he is a good defensive as well attacking player per the fact he can also play full back.claretandy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 8:27 pmJust been watching the obligatory youtube videos, he's more 2 footed than McNeil, scores with both feet.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Carroll wins headers. With us lumping crosses in from all angles he is perfect for knocking balls down in the box. A forward running MF to compliment Wood would increase our goals tally. I don’t want to see him charging around pulling hammys at all.

Pretty sure a static striker is absolutely no use whatsoever to anyone at this levelminnieclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 8:40 pmCarroll wins headers. I hope Cornet turns out to be a good ‘un after all this.
I (now) know he scored against City in the Champions League but I’d genuinely never heard of him a month ago.

That's because any info he gives out about himself is purely voluntary (sorry, i know that it's not quite right in musical instrument terms but I couldn't resist )

Well! if true then we'd better have some other options up our sleeves, because by hook or crook we need at least one winger through the door this week.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 9:00 pm90 minutes saying Newcastle and West Ham are considering mate bids to snatch Cornet from Burnley
So I truly hope we've not got all our eggs in a Cornet shaped basket otherwise we're snookered.
And no needless to state Lennon doesn't count in the equation.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
But from what's has been said, it really does seem it's Cornet or nothing (Lennon aside). So if we don't get him it's very likely to be Lennon only.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 9:10 pmWell! if true then we'd better have some other options up our sleeves, because by hook or crook we need at least one winger through the door this week.

As clear as day, Cornet is dragging this out in the hope of a better offer. IMO, we move on pdq.

If this is the case then maybe we should all come to accept that this is exactly where we are.
Can we attract Champs League standard players? Can we afford them?
If we can't get better than we already have we just go with our squad and hope there are 3 teams worse than we are.

It's taken us all this time on Cornet, we're not likely to get anyone of any particular quality in with only just over a week left. Lennon will be our only option.

Am I alone in thinking Newcastleclaret relishes finding and posting stories which suggest we might miss out on a target or stories about the transfer successes of other clubs?
