Or maybe the longer it drags on the more likely we are to get him. There’s no other offer on the table acceptable to Lyon and the clock is ticking.

Enough stuff online yesterday from rock solid sources to suggest this is almost done.
Obviously there is always a chance it might fall down, but I'd hazard a guess that it would have to be a CL club coming in late and hard, and that is very unlikely
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Or a club that has started the season well, and can offer a far bigger financial package than we can. West Ham springs to mind!Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:51 amEnough stuff online yesterday from rock solid sources to suggest this is almost done.

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in Christie. Looks like a bargain to be had there for someone.
Is there an issue with the player? Are there any off-field problems?
I hope we get him tbh, seems like a Dyche player, that he could seriously improve.
Also, is Hughes going to Palace? I think Dyche would really get him to be the top player he should have been, this would be an awesome signing potentially.
Let's hope that the next week is very exciting for us Clarets with signings, (although I'm not expecting too much on the pitch!)

We can all choose to be optimistic or pessimistic depending on our nature, but nothing changes the fact that a club like Burnley either tries to buy average players nobody wants or better players where we will lose out at times.
If we did lose out what we expect is a Plan B - that’s been the disappointment in the past, that there hasn’t been one. But we have no divine right to succeed with our main target. West Ham at the moment would be an attractive proposition and rightly so.

If we do sign Cornet, and given that his name is pronounced Cornay I'd like to put forward as an original but very cheesey chant:
Wev'e got Maxwel Cornet
Scoring his goals playing at Turf Moor
(To Raspberry Beret by Prince.)

There were rumours at the weekend that the medical was booked for Wednesday. It seems to tie in with other reports that something is happening today...
I think when sources like Fabrizio Romano and Nicolo Schira are reporting the deal, it must be very close. I can't remember many (any, in fact) breaking down after they report them. That said, if we've tried all summer to get a deal over the line and a player gets their head turned by someone coming in last minute, I'd just see it as a bullet well dodged.

The main issue hasn't changed. The process at Burnley always seems to drag out
It's either too low bids, player not interested or a myriad of other reasons.
We are slowly improving however, with our change of owners

Some of you want to read stuff online that tells you that this won't happen, or that other teams are going to get him
Some of us read the stuff online that tells you exactly where we are with this
Only Nixon has mentioned anything, and that was a one line tweet saying "another club is sniffing*
Thats it
Look, if this continues throughout the week, then yes, be concerned, but at the moment its all clicking into place

The BBC football website have linked West Ham with 3 different foreign players on each day of this week. They haven’t followed up their Cornet link from yesterday but instead moved on to another name. It’s really just a big game to them.
I fully concur that Lingard will be the one they will want in after his very successful loan last season.

Something has obviously happened yesterday though, in terms of movement, and today appears from reports to be a key day - whether that is medical or not, who knows? I'm not sure Nixon would either, to be honest.
I do think there may be an element of this deal being leaked to attract other interest, but if so, there's very little we can do about that and I'm sure Pace/Dyche will have read the mood music and have other options lined up.

What could be potentially turning into one of our best ever days in the transfer market and some supporters are in wrist slashing mode.

No, but it will be like running the full length of the pitch, shrugging off challenges and beating defenders, only to scuff your shot when within sight of the goal.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I'm not nervous about it being West Ham as they get linked with every player who gets a mention in the transfer window usually via social media clickbait. I would be more worried it may be Crystal Palace who are looking for a winger and have Viera as their manager who will have contacts and knowledge of French teams etc.
We will know the outcome sometime this week but if we don't get Cornet then we need to have other targets we need to move quickly on. I still think we are likely to get him but it is a nervous time.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
You can’t blame Cornet exploring his options (if that’s what he’s doing) as it’s a big move for him. It doesn’t mean he has a bad attitude or that we’ve ‘dodged a bullet’. I’m just chuffed the club are going all out for a quality player. Fingers crossed.

Depends whether or not he has a genuine interest in actually playing in the premier league as being on the pitch.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 11:07 amWe can all choose to be optimistic or pessimistic depending on our nature, but nothing changes the fact that a club like Burnley either tries to buy average players nobody wants or better players where we will lose out at times.

A squad player at West Ham could be the best it gets
Playing game after at Burnley, he could see as a shop window to bigger things

Couldn’t Cornet insist on an automatic transfer request clause if Burnley get relegated?
Not an ideal contract situation but it might help him make his mind up if he’s worried about playing well below his ability level in the Championship.

Yes it's a strange one regarding Christie, at that bargain price you'd have thought there would be several clubs interested, but he's not really been strongly linked to anyone.burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:55 amI'm surprised there isn't more interest in Christie. I've never heard anything mentioned about his attitude, or indeed any off-field issues either.
The rumour mill suggests Hughes is heading to Palace.
Agree on incomings if we could get 2/3 over the line it could transform the mood of everyone associated with the club, and also get the fans back onside again.
I don't expect a result tonight, but I've got a feeling we'll beat Leeds on Sunday, don't know why just a hunch.

I’d imagine it would be us wanting to get something like that in there. When Stoke were relegated they were left with several high earners who wouldn’t play in the championship but wouldn’t leave because of the money they were on. They’re only just starting to come out the other side now.
